My name is Amanda, and I would like to welcome you to this site. The Reality Of Abortion was created in order to show young (and "old") women the effects that abortion has on those who have been through the procedure. I have personally had one, and while I don't particularly agree with them at this point in my life, I refuse to be a pro-life extremist. I hope this site will prove to be more level-headed than that...I want women to be able to share their stories as well as talk about things that we can do as a community to reach out to girls who are in trouble.
I'm hoping to be able to publish some stories anonymously. I think peoples' personal experiences speak volumes regarding this issue. If the words that are spoken here could possibly help someone else to make the right decision, then I feel that this site's purpose will have been fulfilled.
My ultimate goal is (1) to make this a place where any female who is in trouble can come to make an educated decision, while receiving support at the same time, and (2) to make this a place where women who have already experienced abortion can come to share their feelings, receive support, and give advice to those who are considering abortion.
***You will probably find many sites out there dedicated to "helping" women who are in the real-life throws of the abortion vs. life debate. Some of them may have stories that go along with their sites too. But the difference between this site and the others is this: I have actually HAD an abortion. I KNOW what it feels like to be in that situation, to go through the procedure, and to face the consequences for the rest of your life. Most of these other sites are led by pro-lifers who want to be genuine, but who will never understand what it's truly like...the way I do. So please, know that I am here for ANY of you. I can tell you exactly what to expect...and so can many other women I know.
