During the holidays of 1999, Judy Bell saw an article about Project Linus in the Parade Magazine, and immediately knew she had to be involved. Judy called the headquarters for Project Linus National to find out who the local chapter coordinator was. Much to Judy's surprise, Fort Worth didn't have a chapter.
After that one phone call, the Ft. Worth Chapter was born with Judy Bell as the lead. Of course, the first thing she did was enlist her friend and then co-worker, Lorrie Crawford, to be her co-coordinator. They have been working hand in hand making blankets and talking to ANYONE about making blankets for the children ever since!

From those early beginnings, when Judy and Lorrie had a goal of each making at least one afghan a week, the chapter has grown and grown. Covering the Fort Worth area began with donations of blankets to John Petersmith Hospital, and grew from there.

Soon, it was all of Tarrant County that the chapter covered. Because Judy Bell and Lorrie Crawford lived in Parker County, the chapter began to cover both Tarrant and Parker Counties. Fortunately, the chapter has been blessed to have enough donations and volunteers to cover most every need that has arisen, including sending blankets to other chapters in need when emergencies such as Katrina happen.

In 2005, the name of the chapter was officially changed to: TARRANT/PARKER COUNTIES CHAPTER of PROJECT LINUS
