Kerala painting, dance, music, handicrafts, jewellery and all Kerala art forms and thus to create an
awareness worldwide about our glorious cultural heritage. We have already published about 93 Kerala
art forms and in the process of compiling more. This site offers artists with a web space where they
can publish their profile and image gallery that can be accessed via the World Wide Web and explore
the avenues. Art Kerala stands for promoting the erstwhile as well as living and legendary art forms
of Kerala. Kerala famed as God's own country and selected by National Geographic traveler, as one of the ten
must see destination of the world, is an enchantingly beautiful land. Social and cultural life of Kerala
has several unique features and typical characteristics. Keralite?s have many distinct tastes and
preferences. Love for elephants and passionate love for poetry and the theatrical arts abound here.
Onam, the festival of Kerala is celebrated marking the beginning of the season of festivals, poorams
and carnivals. Festivals in Kerala are typical of the Keralite's love of nature and refined sense of
beauty. The 560-km long narrow stretch of land with 120 km width is covered with dense tropical

folk dances which are reflections of the rhythmic impulses of a sensitive people. Recently the UNESCO brought to light, a less known art form - Koodiyattom - and declared it as one
among the "Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity". It is for the first time in
the history of UNESCO that select art forms across the world have been given this recognition as
part of its effort to safeguard expressions of oral heritage and traditional culture which are in danger
of disappearing due to the efforts of globalisation.
