Abbe’s Sanctuary

     sanc·tu·ar·y [sangk-choo-er-ee] 1.a sacred or holy place.

This is the dictionary's definition of the word sanctuary. That is how we hope you look at this place you have chosen for your transition.

To ensure that everyone gets what they came for, there are some guidelines that are required while you reside here. These guidelines should also be viewed as tools for you to use as you make your way back into the mainstream sense of living!

      Living Quarters Guidelines

In our community it is important that communication stays open. To help with this we have 1 house meeting per week on Saturday's @ 5pm.This meeting is required of you. We know that such tight living quarters can cause some personal conflicts. Our intention is that any problems that may arise will be brought to the surface. We also want to encourage positive feedback as well and include any suggestions that our guest may have. To make sure of your attendance we will impose a $10.00 fine for missing one meeting. If you miss two, the fine is $20.00. If three are missed it is ground for eviction. To insure that everyone is on time a $5.00 fine will be enforced for those who are late up to five minutes. After five minutes it will be considered a missed meeting. Your personnel schedule may conflict with some times. The manager works with this with discretion as long as we have advanced notice.

1. Rent is due every week ($115.00). If you are on SSI your rent is due at once for the whole month. If you are late, there is a $25.00 late fee. It is important that you do not get more then $230.00 (two weeks) behind on your rent. The Sanctuary depends on this money for its operation. So we ask for your help in keeping your rent up to date.

2.We understand that you may have a medical condition that requires you to take prescription medication. We ask that you turn these in at the time of intake and inform the manager in detail of your condition and individual needs. Meds will be given to you as they were prescribed.

3.To ensure the up keep of our living quarters, daily chores will be assigned. The manager will inform you of your chores and they will be signed off on. Your chores are your responsibility.

If you cannot do them you will have to find someone to do them for you.

4. The interior living quarters is a smoke free environment. Outside in the back is where you may smoke. If you are caught smoking inside a fine will be imposed.

5.All residents are responsible for doing their own dishes. This means washing, drying and putting them away. Cleaning up behind yourself in all common areas is also required.  We also ask that you make your bed as soon as you get up and keep all clothes, shoes, toiletries and any personnel belongings organized and within your own personnel space. Again please be considerate of those around you.

  Recovery Guidelines

We hope that this is the whole reason you are here! If you are sincere about your recovery you will understand the previous guidelines as well as the following requirements. Help us help you!

1. You must have a Job within your first week at the Sanctuary. If you are disabled we require you to do some sort of volunteer work or a day treatment program such as Terros or Nova full time. On the days you don't have Day treatment you are required to do 2 meetings. The purpose of this is obvious. You need to get back involved with society and other people. For some you this may bring up some fear. You have support here. If you need referrals of places to go they will be provided.

2. You are required to do 90meetings in 90 days. Three meetings a week are here at the house. Sun 6pm,Tues 7pm, Fri 7pm. You be given a sign off form and it will be checked. Any issues with meeting slips not being signed, either by sponsor or at meetings or the loss of a meeting slip, will result In 2 hours community service, and house restriction.

3. If there is a suspicion of relapse, you will take a UA; if it turns up positive (dirty) you will be asked to leave the house for three days. Upon your return you will be given another UA. If it is still positive (dirty) you will not be allowed back in. Anytime you have to take a UA, you will have to pay $4.00. You will also have to stay by the manager’s side until you are able to do your UA. You will have a 2hours time frame to take your UA.

4. If you are aware of a relapse and do not speak up you also will be considered to have relapsed and asked to leave. We are about staying clean and helping those around us do so as well!

5. Abbe's Sanctuary reserves the right to conduct a complete search at anytime of your belongings. That Includes your purse, and your vehicle.

If there are any questions about recovery or you need a meeting list please ask the manager. She is here to help you!

2. Only open the windows when it is cool enough to turn the A/C off. Or warm enough to turn the heater off.

3. Only use cold water for wash loads when possible. Please do not overstuff the washer.

4. Help keep lights off that do not need to be on. Please also stay aware of any appliances that are on and do not need to be.
