2-Day District Championship Tournament - Winnipesaukee August 12-13, 2006

We were greeted to wind and waves for our 2-day district championship on Lake Winnipesaukee. Unfortunately Scott Leavitt, who was leading the district with 3 wins, hurt his back during Saturday and was unable to continue. Thanks to everyone that came up and fished. We are looking forward to an even larger participation for 2007 season. And special thanks to those that helped out with the weigh-in including Don Mayer, who was our release boat for the weekend.

Don Mayer won his first ABA tournament with a large second day bag of 5 largemouth weighing in at 15.40 pounds and had a total weight of 19.50 pounds with 7 fish. Coming in second was Day One leader Cory Nearing with 9 fish totaling 14.43 pounds with both largemouth and smallmouth. New co-director, David Guichard was in third place with 7 fish weighing in at 11.80 pounds. John Barnes was in fourth place with 5 fish at 6.60 pounds. And in fifth place was Garry Woodruff with 3 fish at 4.52 pounds.

Cory Nearing (above left) had lunker largemouth at 2.79 pounds on Day One. Don Mayer had lunker largemouth of Day Two and the largest one in the tournaments at 3.92 pounds. David Guichard (above right) had lunker smallmouth both days with the largest at 2.30 pounds. Cory Nearing was the winner of the first loser pool.

Based on the responses we will continue the split lunkers and first loser pools for the 2007 season. We're looking forward to a great 2007 season with even better turnouts so check next year's schedule and let us know if you're coming.

District News

David Guichard has joined us as a Co-Director for 2007. We really appreciate him stepping up and helping out.

Also, a great deal of thanks to Donald Stewart for helping out as co-director this year and his prior effort in helping to get District 2 started along with Ken King.
