Missions

God's heart reaching out to a lost world

God's glory in making His name known among the peoples of the earth

God's gospel that is able to save a people for Himself through the complete work of His Son

His name shall be great among the nations

Mission is the People of God intentionally crossing barriers from church to non church, faith to non faith to proclaim by word and deed the coming Kingdom of God in Jesus Christ through the Church's participation in God's mission of reconciling people to God, to themselves, to each other, and to the world, and gathering them into the Church through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ by the work of the Holy Spirit with a view to the transformation of the world as a sign of the coming of the Kingdom in Jesus Christ.

(Charles Van Engel)

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matt 28:18-20)

"I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes..." (Rom 1:16)

REV 7:9 After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 And they cried out in a loud voice:

"Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb."

REV 7:11 All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying:

"Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!"

Thailand Mission Trip

(OCF Carlton and OMF)

4-24th January 2006

A three-week mission trip to northern Thailand. Ministries there involved teaching English and mandarin and organising a children's retreat. We worked with local missionaries among various people groups in the north. The Shan, who were originally from Burma, were among the main groups that we worked with. We also had the opportunity to see and hear what the Lord has been doing in Thailand through missionaries and visitations to various ministry sites. A great learning experience as well as exploring missions in the cross-cultural setting.
