White on black Historical Vehicle (Type 1)

First issued in 1959, with numbers starting at 1.

White on black Historical Vehicle (Type 2)

Around number 1000, the upper bolt slots were moved inward, and the lower bolt slots were removed.

Blue on white Historical Vehicle (Type 1)

Numbers continued from where the previous version left off.

Blue on white Historical Vehicle (Type 2)

This updated version added lower bolt slots and squeezed the abbreviation "Historical Veh." between them.

Blue on white Historical Vehicle (Type 3)

The changes in this late 1980s edition include flat printing for "Historical Vehicle", removal of the raised border, and a switch to round bolt holes. 

Hobby Antique Vehicle (Peach base, Type 1)

This graphic base was used from 1990 through 1996. The county name appears on a sticker along the bottom of the plate.  Thicker dies were used for serials with 4 or fewer digits.

Hobby Antique Vehicle (Peach base, Type 2)

Here is the 5 digit type, with thinner dies.

Hobby Antique Vehicle ("...on my mind" base, Type 1)

This base was used from 1997 through 2003. Once again, thicker dies were used for serials with 4 or fewer digits.

And here is thin-die version used for higher numbered plates.

Hobby Antique Vehicle ("www" base)

A new serial format was among the changes introduced with the www.GEORGIA.gov base in 2004.

Hobby Antique Vehicle (".gov" base)

A simpler black-on-white base was first seen in 2008.     

  USAGE

A vehicle must be at least 25 model years old to be eligible for Hobby/Antique plates.  There are no usage restrictions.  The plates must be renewed annually, and the registration fee is the same as for standard passenger plates.
