Bubbles Barmy Bash - The farewell Run

A Mini2 Run around the Lake District had been arranged for the 20th March 2005. However, The chap arranging it had to cancel it at short notice due to not having a car. This had left a lot of people very disapponted. The North West Mini gang from Mini2 stepped in at short notice  and arranged a fantastic run of their own around the lakes. The resulting run is one of the most fun and memorable mini runs we have participated in.

The day was simply superb, with fantastic weather allowing the mini fanatics to really enjoy the scenery as they flew around the Lake District, only resting briefly for lunch at an excellent pub stop. Here are some pictures of the day and the movie.

Cornish Oggy Run 21st May 2005

CooperBeast spent a very enjoyable weekend exploring Cornwall. The journey down was made on Friday evening and The Brookdale Hotel in Truro was used as our base. Saturday was The Cornish Oggy Run and the evening was spent in a noodle bar with a tribe of fellow mini enthusiasts. Sunday saw a seven mini convoy head for The Eden Project, which was fascinating followed by a speedy trek back to Exeter, the scenic way via Dartmoor, hot on the tale of the infamous Max! From there we journeyed home at a more leisurely pace and recovered from a hectic but fun weekend in Cornwall.

The Brecon Beacons Run 5th June 2005

The NewMiniSeverns had a run to the Brecon Beacons which attracted a devoted 18 cars in the pretty miserable wet weather that prevailed for most of the day. However, it did not dampen the enthusiasm of the attendees and a superb run ensued, travelling through some lovely scenery and culminating in a train ride on the Brecon Beacons railway in a 1936 Philadelphia made steam engine. Lunch was a lakeside picnic and we were blessed with dry weather for the lunch stop, which gave everyone a chance to swap stories and admire each other's minis. Yes a typical mini adventure and great fun too.

The South Downs Run - July 24th 2005

This was a very enjoyable run of about 50 cars split into a puddlers group and a speedier second group, which explored some fantastic scenery around The South Downs. The organisation was faultless and the weather for the day perfect and were the order of the day for the runners.

This is the second year for this run organised by Lee (Poppet) and to make it even better than last year's superb run, Lee decided to make it a weekender. Basically, he changed the run to the Saturday and then made the rest of the weekend more of a social gathering. Some came to the run on the Friday evening and camped Friday and Saturday night, while others, such as us, just camped on the Saturday night. The minis formed a defensive corral to keep intruders out and after camp was set up, set off for a night of food, drink and skittles, which was the now standard issue jolly good fun that you get when a gang of mini nutters get together.

The Sunday dawned with pouring rain to put a small dampener on proceedings but the mini crew are a resilient lot and took over the local cafe for a traditional Sunday fry up, which was then followed by Lunch in Chichester at The Nag's Head. a Big Thanks to Lee and Co. for putting this weekender together.

The Bala Run - August 2005

This was almost a rerun of Goonery's lakes and Mountains Run that we did in February. However, this run, which was organised by Lukeybabe from the North Wales Mini Club used more passes through Snowdonia. Throughout this run the scenery was simply spectacular and being a small run of just 11 cars we were able to do it all at a fair pace. Harlech castle was also on the run and made a pleasant stop too.

See a small movie of the run here. The Bala Run Video
