CBJ Peewees Hush the Scream of Cape Breton in Final Game
The Screaming Eagles of Cape Breton were brought to a quiet whisper in a 9-2 wash in the last exhibition of the Quebec Tourney. Sean Kuraly had a 5 point night on 2 goals 3 assists, Jason Binkley registered the hat trick, Max Terhar had 1 goal 2 assist and Willy Davidge and Mitch Oliver both chipped in with a goal and an assist. This was the last hurrah for the team as they finished the 10 day event with a 6-4-1 record.
The last night in Quebec allowed some of the players and families visit the Ice Hotel 45 minutes north of Quebec City, watch some quarter final games at the Colisee, and then the players went with their billets for the final night. Many decided to dawn the ice again to play a little pond hockey with local kids and dads. The parents went out to spend their last night with a little wine and dine in Old Quebec.
When the departure of 10am arrived on Saturday morning, the billets, players and families shared a tear or two. Exchanging hugs, kisses and comforting comments about the overall experiences the team set sail on the 17 hour bus trip back to Columbus
..arriving at 3am Sunday.
This trip does not happen without support of some key people. Mr. John H McConnell for his continued interest in youth hockey and the development of hockey in the state
.Doug MacLean for his continued financial support to the team and his allowing me to be part of assisting the team as a coach and a parent of son Willy Davidge
The heart and soul of the success of the team was Julie Greiner the team manager and her assistant Angie Warrener were so organized and non assuming
.Coach Rob Schriner was fantastic to work along side
and back in Quebec Carl Tremblay the captain of the CBJ peewees who detailed the support of the tournament.
An experience of a lifetime for all, but thanks to digital cameras and supportive parents, this will be remembered by all of us who were part of it!!!
Thank you
Bill Davidge

Max Terhar Wins Hardest Shot
.Team Suffers 2 Losses
The highlight of the day was the Peewee Skills Competition when Max Terhar from Anderson Ohio rifled a slap shot 71 mph to outdo the best of all the Peewees in Quebec City. Every team was given the opportunity to have a representative in the event, so the best talent from around the world went head to head in shooting, puck control and skating.
Max Terhar and 6th grader Grimaldi from the California Wave who won the skating and the puck control
did not get his first name, but with time we will hear more from both of these boys!!!
The team suffered 2 losses in the continuation of exhibition play. Finland proved to show why goaltending is so important, and why they have sent some proven talent to the NHL. Antila Risto was doubled up on shots and scoring opportunities and was able to walk away with a 2-1 win. Sean Kuraly snapped a high wrist shot over the glove early in period two, and then proceeded to clang the cross bar twice in the last two minutes
..but to no avail.
In the second game of the day against Montgomery Maine AAA team, the offense was left with little life, as the CBJ Peewees fell 6-0. The team was without the services of Terhar (skills) Alex Feighan (flu) and goaltender Griffn Thatcher(flu). The final game of the tournament will be played against the Screaming Eagles of Cape Breton at 10:10am in Val Belair Quebec. The team will then travel to tour the Ice Hotel in the afternoon and then say good bye to their billets on Saturday morning for the 18 hour drive home.
Overall Record Goes to 5-2-1 in Quebec
Is there ever a great tie in any game? There are a few people from Ohio that are in Quebec and a coaching staff for the Moosehead of Halifax that think so!! The CBJ Peewees scored with 1 second left to tie the AAA Halifax Moosehead. Alex Feighan tipped in a Jason Binkley shot to tie the game his second of the night. Max Terhar had the hat trick on another impressive effort. Jake Howell had 2 assists as did hard working Shawn Kuraly. Willy Davidge and Garrett Williams added assists as well.
This was a game Kevin Cameron the coach of The Halifax Moosehead mentioned to our staff that the individual talent on the ice for Ohio was very impressive. Ohio hockey is beginning to make a dent in international competition, and will continue to do so in the future.
Peewees Beat Beie des Chailais 5-3 in afternoon tilt!!
Two goals each by Connor Organ and Jason Binkley and a lone tally by Alex Feighan secured a victory over the Quebec contingent. Lone assists were assessed to Brennan Kallmyer, Joe Nahay, Max Terhar, Sean Kuraly and Willy Davidge. Alex Durieux made some great glove saves to secure the win.
Thursday will bring two more games, Finland and Monte Gomery from Maine, played with only 40 minutes rest between the games.

Second Tournament Game Tuesday 2/15/05 2:15 pm vs. Quebec Fronte lost 8-3
http://www.tournoipee-wee.qc.ca/InterC2005.html
The Road for the Cup is Over!!
The Quebec CBJ Peewee team lost an 8-3 game to the hometown Quebec Frontenac Tuesday afternoon at the Pepsi Colisee. Defeat comes in many ways but this loss is one the coaches and the players all agree was one that really hurts. Looking back will not help mend the wounds, but the reflection of the entire game will allow 11-12 yr olds to understand the difference between success and failure. The team concept left this team on a Tuesday afternoon as they trialed 6-0 at one moment, only to outscore the opposition 3-2 in the last period of the game. The team play will hopefully return to form with goaltending and solid defesne in the final 4 exhibition games. That is what will lay on the doorstep of development for the Ohio representatives.
Wednesday will bring some more hockey as the CBJ Peewees will play at 9am vs. the Halifax Moosehead and again at 2:30 vs another Quebec team. Lessons will be taught not only about the difference between winning and losing but team and individual contributions, and how they pertain to the team sport of hockey. Having been part of Ohio hockey for 32 years, it is clear that the skill level of the youth of tomorrow has taken the next step. It is now a goal for all coaches to get all of the skilled youngsters to understand the team concept.
Coach Rob Schriner has that on his mind as he continues to coach the future of American hockey in Columbus!!!
First Tournament Game Friday 2/11/05 10:20 am vs. Laval WON 6-5
Laval Quebec Falls to CBJ Peewees 6-5
Oh Baby
.was this any good!!! Down 5-2 with 7 minutes to play in the game, the CBJ Peewees stormed back with 4 unanswered goals to win their first game of the Quebec International Peewee Tournament in Quebec City, Quebec Canada. To put the terms of the game in retrospect, the defense was allowed to do what they do well and score goals. Yes, score goals
..not the typical way to win hockey games but the trio of offensive defensemen Jason Binkley, Dalton Huston and Max Terhar scored to aid the win over Laval. Connor Organ scored on a 2on1 to get an early lead, but Laval stormed back.
It was an exciting finish to the game as Willy Davidge scored to tie the game with 5:07 to go in the game on a shot from in tight on goaltender Olivier Thibault. The team did not quit as they continued to pepper 32 shots on the Laval tender, but the nail in the coffin came again off the stick of Willy Davidge as he tipped in a blast from Jason Binkley with 40 seconds to go in the game. That proved to be the game winner and his second goal of the night.
CBJ outshot Laval 32-13. Next up an exhibition against team England later tonight.
Stay tuned more to come with game to game highlights!!
Sunday
the team spent a full day on the slopes of a snow park north of Quebec City and then hosted their billet dinner at a local restaurant
.a day off of fun and family!!

Today
.England and another Quebec Peewee team in exhibition games!!
England Falls to the CBJ Peewees 5-2
Shawn Kuraly had a goal and 2 assists and Garrett Williams scored 2 goals to lead Ohios representative to a win over Team England in exhibition play in Quebec City. Down 1-0 early the Bluejackets scored 3 2nd period goals to secure the win.
Sacksville Nova Scotia AAA Peewee Team hands CBJ first loss in Exhibition game
Getting the early lead and building on it to a score of 4-0, the AAA representative played a solid game against the C level Ohio team. The CBJ stormed back in the game with 2nd period goals from Connor Organ and Jake Miller, but Sacksville scored an ENG to secure the win.
The Bluejackets played hard at both ends and had a great game by Griffin Thatcher, who made several key saves in the game. It really set the table tomorrow for the 2nd tournament game against the Quebec Frontenac at 2pm in the Colisee.

First Exhibition Game Friday 2/11/05 won 7-0 vs. Quebec Senators!
Ohios only Representative & the CBJ Peewees Trounce Quebec Senators 7-0
An exhibition game, the 2nd game of the day on Friday, showed the offensive prowess of the CBJ Peewees in a blowout out of the local favorite Quebec Senator Peewee team. Leading 1-0 after the first period blast by defenseman Jason Binkley, his 2nd of the tournament, was followed by Binkleys 2nd goal of the night and goals by Jacob Howell Joe Nahay and Dalton Huston to secure a 5-0 2nd period lead.
The third period watched the total domination of the CBJ peewees as Max Terhar and Willy Davidge exchanged goals. Davidge also collected an assist as did Binkley who finished the night with 2 goals and an assist. The Quebec team was only able to gather a hand full of shots at best.
Saturday will bring another exhibition against France. The team will then have a chance to spend some time with their family billets. The accompanying parents will get a chance to be part of the Quebec Winter Carnival and see the sights of the Plains of Abraham. With well over 16 countries and 2500 kids, this is the Little League World Series of Hockey. Always a chance to learn another culture and experience, the top players in the NHL were all part of the Quebec Peewee tournament
..Rick Nash Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux.
We will add some pictures as the week goes on, and of course the pictures will always get a chance to say it all.
Second Exhibition Game Saturday 2/12/05 won 8-3 vs. Team France!
CBJ Quebec Peewees Down France 8-3
Led by Matt Mullier with 2 goals and an assist, Jake Howell with a goal and 2assists, and Jason Binkley with a goal and an assist, the CBJ Quebec Peewees dominated the French Royal Demons. The tournament will continue, but games such as exhibitions with France and England, gives the kids an opportunity to get into international competition. They do have some time now to get acclimated to the culture of Quebec as they have Sunday off to be with their billet families and be part of the snow park north of the city.
Parents are the local tourists when not watching their sons, engaging in the fine dining and cultural experiences Old Quebec will offer.
