For all of you who haven't heard:
Beloved and long-running series will end in May.

The long-running drama, which debuted in 1996 on WB Network and now airs on the CW, will have its series finale May 13 in its regular 8 p.m. slot. The hour-long episode, titled "And Away We Go," will actually mark the second time the show was scheduled to have a series finale.

Heaven's 10th-season finale aired on WB in May amid much fanfare about it being the series closer, delivering its highest marks in more than two years with an episode that appeared to wrap up many loose ends in the show about a minister (Stephen Collins) and his sprawling family.

But the CW, which launched in September after the merger of WB and UPN, gave Heaven a last-minute renewal in May, announcing that the show would return in fall 2006 in its signature Monday 8 p.m. slot as part of the CW's inaugural lineup. In October, the network switched its Sunday and Monday lineups, moving Heaven to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Season-to-date, the series is averaging 3.4 million total viewers and a 1.3 rating in the network's target demo of adults 18-34.

Heaven, which debuted on Aug. 26, 1996, marked the first-ever Monday broadcast of the then-fledging WB Network, will bow out as the longest-running family drama on television.

Bombshell Next Door: Jessica Biel SHAWNA MALCOM (PHOTO: CLIFF WATTS)
She may be starring in a new movie called Stealth, but it didn't take any sneaky tactics to get her to open up about her boyfriend, her bad-boy phase and her turn as Orlando's on-screen love. Initially, Jessica Biel seems to personify the stereotypical Hollywood beauty when she arrives for her Cosmo interview at one of Santa Monica's trendiest restaurants. Her long, shiny hair is perfectly styled, her soft makeup appears meticulously applied, and her off-the-shoulder Juicy Couture top and jeans and Dolce & Gabbana kitten heels create the standard hipster uniform. But then something happens that makes it clear she's not your average diva starlet: She discovers a little black bug swimming in the sea of cheese topping her enchilada, but there's no shrieking, no sending the food back, no demanding to see the chef. Instead, the 23-year-old actress just...laughs. "I usually get a hair," she jokes, moving the insect to the side of her plate before chowing down again.

It's that kind of accessible attitude that has made Jessica one of the most popular young actresses in Tinseltown, but it's her ability to reinvent her image that's made her so successful. After a five-year stint playing Mary, a preacher's daughter, on the WB's wholesome family drama 7th Heaven (a role she landed at age 14), the Boulder, Colorado, native decided to shake her G-rated image by taking the part of a strung-out coed in The Rules of Attraction and then playing a badass vampire slayer in Blade: Trinity and a fighter pilot in this month's Stealth. In October, Jessica will be trying her hand at romantic comedy, portraying Orlando Bloom's girlfriend in Elizabethtown, directed by Cameron Crowe, who had this to say about his decision to cast her: "When she kisses Orlando, you get a contact buzz just watching her."

Offscreen, Jessica's been smooching up-and-coming hottie actor Chris Evans, her boyfriend of more than two years (he plays a superhero in the Fantastic Four, out this summer). Here, she dishes about all the reasons she's in 7th Heaven for real these days.
You play a tough-girl fighter pilot in Stealth. Did you have to train really hard to buff up for the role?
I was in the gym six days a week for two hours a day, doing cardio and weight lifting. And I ate no sugar, dairy, flour or salt. But I'd have a cheat day on Sunday, when I could have whatever I wanted. I'd get a sundae, a brownie, chocolate cake, cheesecake, a burger and French fries.

All in one day?
All in one meal!

Have you ever struggled with body-image issues?
Absolutely. I struggle with it every day. Shooting the bikini scene [in Stealth] was stressful. Everyone has areas they're not comfortable with, and mine are my bum, thighs and legs. So having those areas exposed...it was like "Okay, I'm gonna try to be cool with it."

Is it true that you have it written into your contracts that you won't do nude scenes?
Yes. I don't feel comfortable doing nudity. I used a body double in this little indie, London, because they wanted a close-up of a breast and a bottom, and I didn't feel comfortable. I thought, That's for my bedroom and my man, not for everyone else. I had to pick out the body double, and it was a really bizarre experience. I felt like a man. I wasn't talking to the models or getting to know them. I was just assessing their bodies. There are so many shapes of breasts. I never knew. You're just used to what yours look like.

Speaking of good bodies, what was it like working with Orlando in Elizabethtown?
He has this youthful, sweet energy to him. He's very unaware of all the commotion around him, and he's very unaffected, which is nice. He'd just be all sweaty, chasing his dogs around, running after them in the grass.

Is your real-life boyfriend, Chris, a romantic?
Yes. When I turned 21, I actually awoke to find my bed covered in rose petals. In the middle of the night, he had pulled apart at least 24 roses in all different colors and sprinkled the petals everywhere. He's definitely a keeper.

What sweet things do you like to do for him?
I love to take photographs of him and his dog, East. We call him "our" dog now. He's this 75-pound, half-English, half-American bulldog. And I cook for Chris when he's working hard. When he comes home, I'll have dinner ready. It's old-fashioned and fun, and I feel kind of homemakery and great doing it.

Do the two of you ever talk about getting married?
We always talk about it. We both want to be married, and we both want to have children. But we're not engaged, so the rumors are false...so far.

What's something annoying about guys in a relationship?
Boys don't know what they want. I'll say, "I want to go on a picnic. I want there to be wine and a blanket, and I want there to be a sunset." And Chris is usually more like "I don't really know [what I want to do]."

Looking back on all of your past relationships, would you say you have a type?
Well, I love somebody who can make me laugh and be a goofball. I think it's incredibly sexy if a guy can look uncool and completely not care. Also, somebody who likes to show affection. I show a lot of affection. I'm a very big fan of PDA. I'll do it anywhere. If I see a couple making out in public, I'm always like "Awww. Can I join?" [Laughs]

Did you ever go through a bad-boy phase?
I had my bad-boy moment in my teens. I'll never do that again. It wasn't pleasant, and I learned my lesson. It was sexy and mysterious, and it's like "Look how cool they are," but it's just not worth it. He was lying to me and accusing me of cheating ‑- but then I realized he was the one cheating. He was putting it on me and making me feel like shit. I had always thought, I'll never be that woman. I will kick a man [like that] to the curb. But then three years later, I was still with him. And then it finally just smacked me in the face and I was like I'm done. I'm over it.
Question from me(author of 7thheavenrocks, NOT the article. Is she talking about Adam Lavorgna (Robbie) here? Didn't she date him for three years and isn't he a bad boy? Interesting.

    7th Heaven Notes and Bits

*On Tuesday, May 17th the WB announced its fall season. 7th Heaven cast members Stephen Collins, Catherine Hicks, Beverley Mitchell and George Stults were in attandance at the Upfronts at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

7th Heaven will become the longest-running family drama in television history when the Camdens return for a tenth season this fall. The series, from Spelling Television, continues to rank as the network's top-rated show in total viewers (5.4 million) and actually grew year-to-year in The WB's crucial women 18-34 demographic, an astounding accomplishment for a ninth-year program in an extremely competitive timeslot.

"To call 7th Heaven an amazing success story would be an understatement, " said WB Entertainment Presiden David Janollari. "Aaron Spelling, Duke Vincent and Brenda Hampton have done a truly remarkable job continuing to bring this unique family drama to adoring viewers, while Stephen Collins and the cast have been equally wonderful."

*Happy Birthday to former 7th Heaven cast member Scotty Leavenworth (Peter Petrowski). He turned 15!

*It has been announced that former 7th Heaven cast member Barry Watson's (Matt Camden) ABC pilot What About Brian has been picked up for midseason replacement by the network that will be airing on Monday nights at 10/9c after Monday Night Football when it finishes its run in January.

Obviously, Barry Watson will leave the series and not be doing what he did this season on 7th Heaven by guest starring in 10-12 episodes. Hopefully, he will still be able to appear in the 200th episode as its scheduled to be filmed in July, before he begins work on his midseason series.

    7th Heaven - More DVD's Seasons on-the-way, they say! (3rd Season)

    From TVShowsOnDVD.com

Back in November, 2004 we posted a story about Paramount Home Entertainment's pencilled-in plans for future season sets of 7th Heaven. At the time, we were hoping to see "the 3rd Season around the end of Spring/start of Summer timeframe, the 4th Season in the Fall, and the 5th Season just in time for the Winter Holidays."

Well, this is why pencils have erasers: 7th Heaven - The Complete 3rd Season won't make it in the early part of Summer after all. However, it's not delayed too badly. Late last week Paramount told us to expect the 3rd Season DVD set in August.

They aren't ready to provide an exact street date yet, but stay tuned and we'll ge that to you as soon as we can...along with cover art, pricing, and more details about the set and its contents.

This is from TVtome and it's very strange I think. I mean come on, it is a rumor- the cast still get's along very well with Jessica Biel. Earlier in the season Barry Watson and Beverley Mitchell were trying to get Jessica back for an episode. I think this whole rumor that TVtome has started about Jessica Biel and Brenda Hampton is crap!
TV Guide Addresses 7th Heaven Rumor!

TV Guide's Mike Ausiello addresses the rumored Brenda Hampton/Jessica Biel fued over the past season as it seems the writers have been attacking the Mary character constantly for quite some time even though Jessica Biel hasn't been on the show in a year and a half...

Question: It's been said that certain execs at 7th Heaven weren't happy with Jessica Biel's decision to leave the show, and, therefore, have decided to basically drag her character through the mud off screen. What have you heard? — Derrell

Ausiello: My WB spies insist everything is very amicable between Biel and Heaven creator Brenda Hampton. Of course, you might find that hard to believe when you see what Biel's Mary does in the season finale.

New Spoilers Coming On Final 9th Season Episodes!

*It's been confirmed that actor Carlos Ponce (Carlos Rivera) will appear in the 2-part season finale of 7th Heaven. Jessica Biel (Mary Camden) will not appear in any of the final episodes. This will be the first season where she has not appeared in any episodes in the course of an entire season.

*It's been determined that we at TVTOME made a mistake and the episode Hungry will air on May 2nd while Leaps of Faith willl air May 9th Monday night at 8/7c on the WB.

*Scotty Leavenworth will reprise his role as Peter Petrowski in the May 9th episode ("Leaps of Faith"). It is only a guest role, he is not rejoining the cast.

April 17, 2005
I know it's a little late but incase you didn't see the article on Barry Watson in People Magazine last month, here it is:
Life: Take Two
After battling cancer, 7th Heaven's Barry Watson gets ready for fatherhood.
When actor Barry Watson proposed to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition designer Tracy Hutson last August, he wanted it to be "as casual as possible," he says. "We were just going to check out the sunset [in L.A.'s Topanga Canyon], but I added a little extra" -by way of a yellow Neil Lane diamond. But even that romantic scene couldn't compare to the news that arrived one month later: Hutson was pregnant, due in May. "Looking at those pregnancy tests... we kept going back to the store and getting more," Watson says with a laugh. "It was probably the best moment of my life."

It was a moment that contrasted starkly with Watson's life just three years ago. Then single and battling Hodgkin's disease, a form of lymphatic cancer, the 30-year-old actor had a sole focus: survival. "I said, 'All right, let's go. I'll beat this thing,'" recalls Watson, best known for his clean-scrubbed role as minister's son Matt Camden on the long-running WB drama 7th Heaven. Following a grueling six-month course of chemotherapy, he triumphed by plunging back into acting, taking the lead in the horror movie Boogeyman (hitting theaters on Feb 4) as a man haunted by occult visitors. "There were times on the film where I was putting myself in this very dark place, and months before I had been in the darkest place I'd ever been," he says now.

Things first took a dark turn while Watson was promoting the film Sorority Boys in March 2002. "I was tired in a way that I've never been tired before," he says. Within a week he found a lump in his neck and was soon diagnosed with Hodgkin's: "My heart just sank." The chemotherapy that followed took a severe toll on his body, if not his spirit. "My hair started to thin," he recalls, "but it wasn't until someone came up and said, 'You look like the crypt keeper' that I was like,' I've gotta shave my head.'" He did, and debuted the look onstage at the Teen Choice Awards. "He wasn't parading it, but he wasn't hiding out, either," says his 7th Heaven dad Stephen Collins. "He was not defeated."
Barry Watson & Tracy Hutson
Nearly two years after his diagnosis, Watson got a very different sort of surprise: He was reintroduced to Hutson, 28, whom he had met when they were high schoolers in Dallas. Back then "she was this free spirit," he recalls. The two had briefly dated in their early 20's before losing touch; in December 2003 they were reunited through old friends. "I was like, 'Well, where the hell have you been?" he says. "I was so happy, my heart just about stopped.

In turn, says Hutson, she found him to be "the same old Barry" who's "really just my best friend." Hutson, a strong believer in fate, says, "The way we bumped into each other means this was meant to be." And the baby, she adds, just makes everything even better. "We were blessed."

The rekindled romance is yet another in a series of second chances for Watson, one of four siblings raised by Michael, 63, a lawyer, and Karen, 58, a paralegal. As a kid in Traverse City, Mich. (the family relocated to Dallas when Watson was 8), he felt like a wild child. "I was like this crazy monkey," he says. Acting proved an outlet, and at 15 (after his parents split) he moved to L.A, where within two weeks he landed a role on the NBC soap Days of Our Lives. But the job was short-lived, and after a dry spell he eventually snared his 7th Heaven role. During his long run on The WB, he made a brief attempt at marriage (in 1997), but it didn't take. "I was young and silly," he says.

With his cancer now in remission, Watson has signed on for several 7th Heaven episodes this season. This month he and Hutson (on maternity leave from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition) are moving into a three-bedroom home not far from their old digs in Topanga Canyon. So when's the wedding? "Our families are on call," Hutson says with a laugh. In the meantime she's plying her trade on the new house. "There's a muralist coming in," she says of the nursery, which will feature an outdoors theme.

For his part, Watson is happily focusing on his next role: being a dad. "I'm so excited," he says. "I just want a happy safe, healthy little one. This is the coolest thing ever."

Hoechlin Plays Parts Well in This Dual Role

Splits time between baseball and 7th Heaven
There's nothing ordinary about the teenage life of Tyler Hoechlin.

Mornings, he's filming his role in the WB Network series, 7th Heaven. Afternoons, he's the starting third baseman for Corona Santiago. It's a balancing act between acting and playing high school sports that few successfully pull off, but Hoechlin has done so well that USC and UCLA are recruiting him as a baseball prospect.

What's harder to believe is that he continues to live in Corona and commutes 65 miles to the 7th Heaven studio in Santa Monica, then returns for baseball workouts. His one-way drives can take from one hour to three hours, depending on the traffic. Like LeBron James' mode of transportation as a high school senior, Hoechlin drives an H2 Hummer, which he bought for himself.

If he weren't a 17-year-old actor and high school student, he could be a radio traffic reporter with all his expertise on freeway road conditions. "It's a little crazy," he said. "I don't get too much sleep. I'd rather be overly busy than completely bored."

7th Heaven shoots from July to early April. Hoechlin is an independent study student during the fall semester, then attends regular classes in the spring. Once the baseball season begins, the TV production crew tries to help him by shooting his scenes in the morning. However, he had to miss a game Wednesday because of his acting commitments.

Hoechlin refuses to give up acting or baseball, and for good reason. He excels in both. He played Tom Hanks' son in the 2002 movie, Road to Perdition. He's in his second year of 7th Heaven, playing the role of Martin, the son of a Marine who is also an outstanding high school baseball player.

"It's kind of like a rush," he said of acting. "Your heart pounds so fast. It's fun to perform and play a character." Hoechlin doesn't need any stunt double for his baseball scenes. As a sophomore last season, he batted above .400 in helping Santiago reach the Southern Section Division II semifinals. With eight returning starters, the Sharks could win a championship this season. The 6-foot Hoechlin has good speed and handles his position well. He had three hits last summer at the Area Code tournament in Long Beach, one of the most prestigious competitions for high school players. This season, he's four for seven with seven runs scored.

"He's very instinctive and aggressive and isn't afraid to take chances," Santiago Coach Ty DeTrinidad said.

Hoechlin comes from a sports family that has grown up competing in baseball leagues for years in Corona, which is why they have been reluctant to move closer to Los Angeles and the entertainment industry. Hoechlin understands that his future in baseball and acting could be out of his hands.

"You figure they're the two most unpredictable professions," he said. "Your entire future is dictated by somebody else. You have scouts who will tell you if you can go to the next level. Then casting directors will cast you for movies.

"Baseball has helped me with rejection from acting, and acting has helped me with rejection from baseball. I get used to accepting failure and move on."

To show how torn Hoechlin is between acting and baseball, he can't answer the question whether he'd prefer to win an Academy Award or a most-valuable-player trophy in the major leagues.

"Geez, that's the hard one," he said. "I've had that question before and can't make up my mind." What he's grateful for are his abilities in both fields. "My whole family said they'd find a way to make it work," he said.

Barry Watson Leaving 7th Heaven Again?

Although it is far from being official, 7th Heaven's Barry Watson (Matt Camden) has signed onto an ABC drama pilot, titled What About Brian?, playing the lead character targeted for a fall 2005 bow if the network decides to pick up the pilot as a series. If this happens, then chances are we won't be seeing much of Barry Watson (and alter-ego Matt Camden) very much, if at all next season as the series has been renewed through next season. Take Two After battling Cancer, 7th Heaven's Barry Watson gets ready for Fatherhood.

from People Magazine; By Michelle Tauber

When actor Barry proposed to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition designer Tracy Hutson last August, he wanted it to be "as casual as possible," he says. "We were just going to check out the sunset [in L.A.'s Topanga Canyon], but I added a little extra"--by way of a yellow Neil Lane diamond. But even that romantic scene couldn't compare to the news that arrived one month later: Hutson was pregnant, due in May. "Looking at those pregnancy tests . . . we kept going back to the store and getting more," Watson says with a laugh.

Following a grueling six-month course of chemotherapy, he triumphed by plunging back into acting, taking the lead in the horror movie Boogeyman (hitting theaters on Feb. 4)as a man haunted by occult visitors.

"My hair started to thin," he recalls, "but it wasn't until someone came up and said, 'You look like the crypt keeper' that I was like, 'I've gotta shave my head.'" He did, and debuted the look onstage at the Teen Choice Awards. "He wasn't parading it, but he wasn't hiding out, either," says his 7th Heaven dad Stephen Collins. "He was not defeated."

Nearly two years after his diagnosis, Watson got a very different sort of surprise: He was reintroduced to Hutson, 28, whom he had met when they were high schoolers in Dallas. Back then "she was this free spirit," he recalls. The two had briefly dated in their early 20s before losing touch; in December 2003 they were reunited through old friends. "I was like, 'Well, where the hell have you been?'" he says. "I was so happy, my heart just about stopped."

Acting proved an outlet, and at 15 (after his parents split) he moved to L.A., where within two weeks he landed a role on the NBC soap Days of Our Lives.

"I just want a happy, safe, healthy little one. This is the coolest thing ever."

          Musical Episode Tumbles in Ratings!

This weeks episode of 7th Heaven took a real tumble in the ratings as many viewers tuned out this week from the musical fiasco. WB had a ho-hum night with dramas 7th Heaven (4.9 million, 1.7/5) and Everwood (4.2 million, 1.6/4). That's the lowest to date with original episodes. Let this be a BIG lesson to creator Brenda Hampton and crew to never doing this kind of show AGAIN! This is a family drama, NOT A MUSICAL! But thank goodness, next week returns back to normal, and hopefully the ratings as well.

The WB's Official Press Release on the 10th Season Renewal! Burbank, CA February 11, 2005 For Publication Monday, February 14 THE WB'S HIGHLY RATED DRAMA WILL SURPASS "THE WALTONS" AND "LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE" AS THE LONGEST-RUNNING FAMILY DRAMA OF ALL TIME The WB Network and Spelling Television's 7th Heaven has earned an early 10th season pick-up, which will make it the longest-running family drama in television history. The announcement was made jointly today by David Janollari, President of Entertainment for The WB and executive producer Aaron Spelling, who is also the Chairman and CEO of Spelling Television, Inc. The previous record for longest-running family drama was shared by 7th Heaven, The Walton's and Little House on the Prairie, which each aired for nine consecutive seasons. "This is a great day for everyone involved with this historic series, especially the loyal fans that have made this appointment television on Monday nights for almost a decade," said Mr. Janollari. "The longevity and consistent quality of 7TH HEAVEN is a testament to the commitment to excellence of Aaron Spelling, Duke Vincent, series creator Brenda Hampton and a fabulous ensemble cast led by Stephen Collins. An entire generation of pre-teens and teens has grown up watching this show with their parents and learned valuable life lessons. Through the prism of a loving traditional family, the storylines serve as a jumping off point for important family discussions. The bottom line is, this is a series that makes you proud to be a broadcaster." "The WB's 10th year pick-up of 7TH HEAVEN has put me into 8th heaven!" said Aaron Spelling. "But seriously, we're thrilled that this pick-up will make 7TH HEAVEN the longest running family show in television history. We can't thank the WB enough for its support!" 7th Heaven, which debuted on August 26, 1996, has been The WB's most-watched series for seven consecutive seasons (since the 1998-99 broadcast season). The show garnered the network's largest audience ever on February 8, 1999, when 12.5 million viewers tuned in to watch the birth of the Camden twins. This season, 7th Heaven is again the network's most-watched series in households and total viewers and is also strong in young demographics, ranking second in 12-34 and teens and first in 18-49 amongst all series on The WB. 7th heaven has been extremely successful in relating stories that are affecting families today and opening up avenues for discussion. Some of the series' compelling storylines have focused on religious tolerance, gun control, the Holocaust, voting, drug use and teen sexuality. The series has won numerous awards, including being named best drama in the Teen Choice Awards three times, and being hailed as "The Best Show You're Not Watching" at the inaugural TV Guide Awards. "Every day, I'm stopped on the street or in the market by someone who tells me how important 7TH HEAVEN is to their family – that the show prompts tough, essential talk between kids and parents," said series star Stephen Collins. "They also tell me we make them laugh and cry. It's a gift to work on this show, and to know that we' ll break a record or two is the icing on the cake. 7TH HEAVEN has never been media-sexy. We don't win the big awards, and whoever is flavor-of-the-month will always get more attention on the red carpet. However, as Lou Gehrig once said, ‘Today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth.'" "I think everyone is overlooking the show's most noticeable achievement – after nine seasons, Stephen Collins still has his hair," said series creator and executive producer Brenda Hampton. "At this point in time, there is every indication that he will still have it for the tenth season, so we're looking forward to another year of success. He is our lucky charm." 7th Heaven stars Collins as Reverend Eric Camden, Catherine Hicks as Annie Camden, Barry Watson as Matt Camden, David Gallagher as Simon Camden, Beverley Mitchell as Lucy Kinkirk, Mackenzie Rosman as Ruthie Camden, Nikolas and Lorenzo Brino as Sam and David Camden, George Stults as Kevin Kinkirk and Tyler Hoechlin as Martin Brewer. The series was created by Brenda Hampton ("Mad About You," "Blossom") who also serves as executive producer, along with Aaron Spelling and E. Duke Vincent. 7th Heaven is produced by Spelling Television, Inc., a Paramount/Viacom company.

"7th Heaven" has NOT been picked up for a 10th season, YET Today rumors circulated around the internet from a post on the WB message boards about someone saying that Entertainment Weekly online had an article about how "7th Heaven" had been picked up for a 10th season. This article is not true and was not found on Entertainment Weekly online. By close reading of the article by both editors we found that it was not written in a professional manner thus making us believe even more that the story was not true. This does not mean that "7th Heaven" will not be picked up for a 10th season, it just means that it has not been picked up for a 10th season yet. Ratings for "7th Heaven" are still very strong which makes for a strong possibility that the show will be picked up for a 10th season. When an offical annoucment is made, we will bring the news too you.

The WB at 10: WB Memories: Stephen Collins "When I was offered the show my agent said to me, 'I think you're probably going to want to turn this down.' I asked why, and he said because it's on The WB, which had just launched six months earlier, if that. But I enjoyed the experience from the beginning. "When you went to a reception for the national group of television critics at that time, it would be nine people in a small room with stale rumaki, and everybody thinking how can they get the hell out of there. Now the climate couldn't be more different. It's a hot ticket, with red carpets and starlets, executives, development people and agents." "After shooting the pilot, I went down to the office to meet [The WB founder and CEO] Jamie Kellner. I remember he was in shirtsleeves. He brought me into his office and said, 'I really like this show, and I think you and I are going to be in business together for a long time.' People always say that, but he really seemed to mean it." This year, 7th Heaven ties The Waltons as the longest-running family drama of all time.- TVweek.com

New Episodes of 7th Heaven Returning January 24!

Apparently there seems to be a miscommunication between TV listing websites and WB promos. This week's trailer promoting the rerun Vote also announces that 7th Heaven will also be returning with new episodes on January 24, despite TV listing sites proclaiming it to be January 31. So for the time being we will change it to January 24. Click here to view the trailer.

*Also, this week's issue of TV Guide has a Catch-Up Guide section of all returning new episodes of all shows and is also reporting as well 7th Heaven returns on January 24.

          7th Heaven: Musical Style

          From TV Guide:
7th Heaven is pulling a Buffy the Vampire Slayer this February. No, the Camdens aren't going all demon-y on us. Rather, they'll be breaking into song for a special musical episode airing Valentines Day. "It's going to be very 7th Heaven-conservative and old fashioned" says executive producer Brenda Hampton nothing that Heaven's core couples will belt out classic tunes such as "Love Is Sweeping The Country", "You Were Meant For Me" and "Your Are My Lucky Star." Not everyone will have a song in their heart, though. "David Gallagher is not going to sing," Hampton reveals. "He didn't want to do it." And I would never make an actor do something they thought might be embarrassing to them."

No New 7th Heaven Episode on January 17 or January 24!

It turns out the WB won't be airing a new episode of 7th Heaven on Monday, January 17 or January 24. Instead it is scheduled for the episode Fathers to re-air again on Monday at 8/7c and the 6th season episode Pathetic to air on January 24. New episodes will now begin airing on Monday, January 31.

Sorry guys, January 17 was the closet we'd get a new episode after the Critic's Choice Awards, but the WB has decided to schedule more repeats in.

            A note from Tvtome:

Note to ANYONE at the WB or Spelling Television: It is completely ridiculous that viewers have to wait OVER TWO MONTHS (Nov. 29 - Jan. 31) for a new episode. What are trying to do? Lose your viewers? Not all of your average viewers (like us editors and a few others) are willing to wait that long during hiatus for a new episode. I'm already forgetting that Lucy is expecting her baby soon! It's gonna show in your ratings! Fix your programming strategy!

              For Heaven's Sake, Premarital Sex!

Ratings are solid for the WB's 7th Heaven, with the Camden family dealing with their son Simon having premarital sex---which led to an unplanned pregnancy---but is the show worried about alienating its more conservative viewers? "I'm more afraid of the show becoming too good to be true and people losing respect for it truly reflecting society," responds Catherine Hicks, who plays the mother. "For Simon to have sex is more real than to pretend that no one in our family has ever been tempted. Plus, it's better to see how we talk about it openly so that parents can talk with thier kids and get dialogue going."

Even though the show is in its ninth season, Hicks believes it will still continue to serve as a guidline to families. "Moms come up to me with tears in their eyes saying, 'Thank you, thank, thank you.' In a society where divorce has become acceptable, we are the family that won't break up." But what will Hicks do when her days of playing Annie Camden come to an end? "Oh, I'll just be a mom, maybe plant a garden in the backyard, but I'll probably be bored to tears."- New Your Vue, This Just In...

'I try to keep things as positive as possible.'
On Tyler's not-so average batting: "We have a lot of athletes in my family. My dad played college ball and my older brother played semi-pro. I still play a lot. If I got approached to be drafted, I would go."

On getting lucky: "It was pure luck that I started acting. I was nine years old. I had a baseball game and it got rained out. For lack of anything better to do, I went to an audition."

On being a shy guy: "I don't really get self-conscious. My first on-screen kiss was with Ashlee [Simpson]. Luckily it wasn't the first time I had kissed anybody. Ashlee and I joked about it. We had a good time but at the end of the day, it's all about work."

On his alter ego, Martin: "He is a lot like me. Obviously, we have the baseball thing in common. It is something I do. I have been scouted before so I can relate. We're both easy-going and we both try not to make big deals out of anything. I try to keep things as positive as possible."

On family ties: "We have an amazing set. The first time you meet [the cast], they make you feel like you've been working with them forever. You can never get too bored, unless you have to be in school. Me and George mess around a lot! I call him "sweetheart" and he calls me "honey.""

              Possible Spring Hiatus?

News has come out recently that could put the WB's 7th Heaven on a short hiatus come the spring 2005. Many WB affiliated sites have confirmed that the summer hit Summerland will return on Monday, February 28th. The timeslot of where it will air has not yet been disclosed, but we'll keep you informed. It will probably replace Everwood, but we don't want to take any chances at not thinking of the possibility that 7th Heaven may be put on the shelf.

7th Heaven Season 2: Knocking on Heaven's Door Once More!

TVshowsondvd.com is now confirming that the second season of 7th Heaven will be heading to DVD and on store shelves on February 8th...

As we suspected, the rumored February 8th date we passed on to you for 7th Heaven - The Complete 2nd Season turned out to be true! The second season of Aaron Spelling's award-winning television series comes to DVD in a 6-disc DVD set that features all 22 episodes.

7th Heaven centers around the Camdens, a tight-knit family living in Glenoak, California, and consisting of minister dad Eric, homemaker mom Annie, and their five children: Matt, Mary, Lucy, Simon and Ruthie and their adorable dog, Happy. The series chronicles the many complex issues of growing up in the world today, and the Camden family tackles these issues head-on. Unafraid of intervening in the lives of their children, Eric and Annie discuss serious issues with them in an effort to educate them on the ways of the world. The family remains a tight unit as a result of their love for one another, and their faith in God.

Full screen, Dolby Digital English 2.0 Surround, French Stereo, and closed captions for the hearing-impaired are the specs on this release. Running Time is 16 hours 34 minutes, and these will be priced around $40 in stores (CAN$64.99 SRP in Canada). Cover art will be available soon, so stay tuned!

*Also, Stephen Collins (Eric Camden) and Catherine Hicks (Annie Camden) were in attendance as presenters at the Family Television Awards last Wednesday, December 1st. The series itself didn't win anything though. Look for the special to air on the WB this week on Thursday, December 9 at 9/8c.

              Wayne's a Real Trouper

USO celebrity front-man Wayne Newton has entertained American troops for more than 40 years, and his dedication certainly hasn't gone unnoticed by the WB's 7th Heaven. Tomorrow night's episode has been written especially for the Las Vegas showman. He'll be turning up on the Camden's doorstep with a message for Martin (Tyler Hoechlin) from his father, who is serving in Iraq. Newton tells Just In he was quite impressed with the research done to find out how he started touring with the USO.

"It was amazing to me when I read the script because I was like, 'Where did they get this?' It's all true though," he says about his lines on the show. "I went to five years of military school and aspired to go to West Point. When the time came, they found out I had asthma and there wasn't even a physician, I was just out the door." It wasn't until he performed in Las Vegas ballroom full of Marines that Newton realized his calling. "I was walked out on stage to a sea of blue uniforms and said to my brother, 'I'm going to 'Nam.'"- New York Vue

Hey Everybody! I just happened to be flipping through the channels and ended up on MTV, and I saw Jessica Biel. The show was called Diary and she talked about what she does and other stuff. I checked tommarow and they're replaying it tommarow from 10:30am to 11:00am on MTV, so don't miss it! I think there are some later times in the day its playing too though.

Don't know if anyone saw it, but a couple nights ago Jessica Biel was on David Letterman, and it was pretty funny. I was always wondering about her dog East if it was her or her boyfriends, and aparently they share the dog. She also mentioned that she bought a cabin right next to her parents in Colorado. She mentioned 7th Heaven once about coming to California and it being her first acting job, but nothing else. She's sure busy promoting Blade Trinity! (Don't forget to see it this coming week, Dec. 10)

                    More 7th Heaven DVD News!

The folks at The Digital Bits website posted yesterday to their Rumor Mill section a long list of Paramount titles that they said would arrive in the first half of 2005. They state that they "(got the)...information from both industry and retail sources. I want to emphasize that this is very tentative and is absolutely subject to change. Also none of the dates you're about to see are officially announced."

One of the titles they listed was 7th Heaven - The Complete 2nd Season, which their info showed would be out on February 8th. As we mentioned last month, this is the first of four planned releases for this series in 2005. Look for the 3rd Season around the end of Spring/start of Summer timeframe, the 4th Season in the Fall, and the 5th Season just in time for the Winter Holidays.

We'll re-emphasize that the 2/8 date for S2 is a rumor, not straight from the studio, and could be subject to change. But we DO know from the studio that this title is definitely coming, and info of this sort at The Digital Bits' Rumor Mill, in our experience, turns out to be correct most of the time. Kudos to them for digging it up. Stay tuned for the official announcement, just as soon as Paramount makes it!- TVshowsondvd.com

                  MINISTER'S KIDS ARE ONLY HUMAN

by Marilyn Bech & Stacy Jenel Smith

the camden family of 7H have been dealing with their son simon having premarital sex this season - and despite some viewer complaints, star stephen collins, who plays rev eric camden, welcomes the storyline.

"it's one of those things you deal with as a parent of a kid growing up, and it's about time to deal with it," notes collins.  "it's easy for people to say, 'oh, that shouldn't be,' but i'm not sure i would want to be the child of one of those people, because kids are going to do what they are going to do."

collins believes the show is handling the material responsibly. "it's not being done in a sensational way at all - it may be promoted that way, but the episodes are not at all salacious."  he goes on to add, "what's interesting about the story line is that simon thinks he's just stretching his wings, but it turns out that this whole sexual escapade is a lot more complicated that he thought.  if anything, what we're trying to demonstrate is that sex is complicated, it isn't casual."

                  News on Ashlee Simpson:

Did 'SNL' Gaffe Expose Simpson Vocal Aid?

                  By DAVID BAUDER
                  AP Television Writer

                  October 24, 2004, 8:40 PM EDT

NEW YORK -- Singer Ashlee Simpson's "extra help" may have been exposed when a "Saturday Night Live" audience heard her voice -- singing the wrong song -- while she held a microphone at her waist.

Her record company blamed a computer glitch and she blamed her band for Sunday morning's incident, which cut off her planned performance of the song "Autobiography" on the network comedy show.

Simpson had performed her hit single "Pieces of Me" without incident earlier in the show. When she came back a second time, her band started playing and the first lines of her singing "Pieces of Me" could be heard again.

She looked momentarily confused as the band plowed ahead with the song and the vocal was quickly silenced.

Simpson made some exaggerated hopping dance moves, then walked off the stage 35 seconds into the performance. NBC quickly cut to a commercial.

"What can I say?" guest host Jude Law said with Simpson standing next to him at the end of the show. "Live TV."

"Exactly," Simpson said. "I feel so bad. My band started playing the wrong song. I didn't know what to do so I thought I'd do a hoe-down."

Her record company, Geffen Records, said there was a computer glitch. Instead of some pretaped electronic percussion, the recording of "Pieces of Me" started mistakenly performing, the record company said in a statement.

But it sounded suspiciously like a guide vocal that's a common -- although almost always unspoken -- concert aid. Either the singer "lip synchs" by mouthing words to a backing tape or has a live microphone and sings along to the tape, making the voice sound more powerful than it is.

Such vocal tricks have been used before on the show, making "Saturday Night Live" not entirely live, said a show insider who spoke on condition of anonymity.

A Geffen spokeswoman did not immediately return a call for comment.

Simpson's walk-off joins the lore of other unexpected music moments on "SNL": Elvis Costello stopping and changing songs on live TV, and Sinead O'Connor tearing up a picture of the pope.

                  GalBits
David Gallagher David Gallagher, most famous, I suppose (so far) for playing Simon on 7th Heaven, went away recently for the weekend--so say very dependable Heavenly spies--and D.G. didn't exactly send an engraved memo. Damn young dudes (can't live with or without 'em). Producers had to rearrange all sortsa things. But this section's really all about the babes, which means I should move on to...

Catherine Hicks Catherine Hicks, mama to D.G. on that familial long-running soaper. Though 7th did give us Jessica Biel and Ashlee Simpson, so who's to bitch? Certainly not Ms. H., who, according to production sources in the know, has the most divine hours any worker bee could desire. Ready to drop mouth in astonishment (or envy, take your pick)? Good, 'cause...

Ms. H.--so say my trustworthy 7th snoops--has it guaranteed that she only works two days a week, for a total of 20 hours. And--she has to be out by 5:30! Uh, nice gig, Mama Camden!

                  FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                    7th Heaven Going Mobile

                    7th Heaven Producers Being Sued?

It's been reported through various unofficial sources that a recent airing of the TV show Celebrity Justice revealed that one of the crew members of 7th Heaven has filed a lawsuit against the producers for impinging on his religious freedoms. Some of the complaints he's filing against was that there was a lot of foul language on the set, particularly the f-word (i.e on set headsets), blatantly reading a lot of explicit and dirty magazines as well as making Anti-Semitic remarks. We'll try to find more info on this as soon as we can on this story to find out the what's really going on.

Note: This is still unconfirmed and not official. It could still be a rumor, but we're looking into it.

7th Heaven Casting Shakeup (TV Guide)

7th Heaven just started its 9th season, which will include lots of surprises for its loyal fans — some good, some bad. For starters, troubled actor Jeremy London won't be returning to the WB family drama, nor will Ashlee Simpson or Rachel Blanchard. However, original cast members Barry Watson and David Gallagher are back as the prodigal Camden sons, Matt and Simon.

"We're focusing on our core family again," says creator/executive producer Brenda Hampton. "As the show gets older, you want to give people as much as you can of the thing that they watched it for. And in this case, it's the Camden family." Watson and Gallagher both return for 11 episodes, so we'll have the opportunity to see the boys dealing with some more adult situations. In fact, Simon "will be the first Camden to have sex outside of marriage." Pretty risqué for the son of a preacher man!

The big story this season will revolve around Tyler Hoechlin, who joined the cast last season as Martin, a teen who's living with the Camdens while his father serves in Iraq. "We want to address people who don't have a family," Hampton says. "So one of the big pushes this year will be to talk about if you've ever thought about adoption, if you can open your home and your heart to a child, please do so."

In addition to welcoming Martin into the family, Lucy (Beverley Mitchell) and Kevin (George Stults) are preparing for the birth of their first child. "He's cool and calm and collected before the baby and she's a little nuts. And then they trade off." By the way, Hampton says Lucy's taking over as associate pastor from Chandler (London), who has "moved on."

Speaking of which, don't look for sexpot Jessica Biel to return to her roots as eldest Camden daughter Mary. "She's a very busy young woman with all her film commitments," Hampton laments. "We don't always have the people we need." Not to worry, we'd say it's a pretty full house as is.- TV Guide Insider

                    Premiere Ratings!

Last nights season premiere for 7th Heaven got off to a healthy start in the ratings by scoring a 6.9/11 rating share in the overnights and 7.3 million viewers in the fast nationals and 2.4/7 in adults 18-49. It was fourth place in it's timeslet easily beating UPN repeats and a new episode of Fox's North Shore. The series was still down compared to last year (8.01) in viewers, but many markets in Florida were not counted due to power outage of hurricanes and hopefully a many more will tune back in over the weeks. But contintue to watch the show fans.

                    'Heaven' Can't Wait!

On any other show, a teen dab bling in premarital sex wouldn't set off any alarms. But when that teen is one of the Camden brood from The WB's 7th Heaven, the world practically stops spinning. 7th Heaven — the WB's highest-rated series ever since it went on the air in 1996 — is a family drama revolving around the lives of the fairly conservative Camdens — a dad minister, his wife and their seven kids.

The show frequently has covered stories featuring everything from the right to vote and sibling rivalry to teen suicide and drug use. Now entering its ninth season, the show will venture off into uncharted, dramatic territory: one of the Camden kids — for the first time ever — is doing the out-of-wedlock nasty. And it's going to throw the Camden clan for a loop.

Monday's season premiere episode (titled, with good reason, Dropping Trou) several family members catch the disheveled-looking Simon (David Gallagher), the Camden's middle son, and his new girlfriend, Georgia (Rheagan Wallace), in the afterglow of one of their sex sessions. "Not in a million years did I ever think that any Camden would be having premarital sex," says the young actor who plays Simon.

"Simon is becoming a little cooler because he's catching up with a lot of issues that all my friends are dealing with or have dealt with, much more specifically," says Gallagher, a 19-year-old originally from College Point, Queens.

"All my friends that I've told, 'So on the show this year, I have sex' they're all like, 'That's awesome, finally!' " The show has not shied away from hot-button issues like teen sex and under-age pregnancy — but until this week, those things happened only to people outside the family. The Camdens themseleves have managed to hold off on sex until after they were married — explaining in part young marriages for the three oldest kids.

Still, this being 7th Heaven and all, don't expect anything more graphic than kissing and handholding. "Oh Lord, no. No one's going to be dancing around in their underwear on '7th Heaven,' " says series creator and executive producer Brenda Hampton.

7th Heaven in EW's Fall TV Preview Issue

Entertainment Weekly has just come out with its annual Fall Preview TV Issue with all the new and returning shows for fall 2004. 7th Heaven is also featured in this weeks issue on page 40. Check it out along with other shows. It's on sale now. Here's what they have on 7th Heaven...

Oh, hell no! Preacher's son Simon Camden (David Gallagher) is having premartial sex? "It's the very real story where it's in front of their eyes and the parents just don't want to believe it," says creator Brenda Hampton. Th WB's longest-running series, Heaven will spen its 4,000th season refocusing on the Camden clan. While Hampton couldn't lure Jessica Biel as rebel Mary, Barry Watson (like David Gallagher) returns for 11 episodes. And little Ruthie (Mackenzie Rosman), now in high school, lands hearthrob Aaron Carter as a love interest. "She meets him in detention," Hampton says. "She gets off to a bad start with school." Sounds like she's well on her Mary way. (Sept. 13)

                  Home Sweet Home
After being out of the country for 9 months filming in Vancouver (Blade Trinity) and in Australia (Stealth), Jessica Biel is home in LA just enjoying  a break.  Her days are now filled with reading new scripts, going to the gym and ballet, playing with "East", the bull-dog, and hanging out with her brother and friends.  She did just film her scenes in a new film, "Elizabethtown", which stars Kirsten Dundst, Orlando Bloom, Susan Sarandon, and Alec Baldwin and produced by Tom Cruise.  Should be out next year sometime.

                    Carlos Ponce Turns TV Dad!

ET's man in Miami CARLOS PONCE returns to the set of The WB's hit show "7th Heaven" for another go-round of his recurring role as Carlos Rivera. Fans of the family drama know that Carlos married the Camden's daughter Mary (JESSICA BIEL) and swept her away to New York, where the young couple had a baby boy.

On tonight's ET, we visit the Latin superstar as he gets ready to shoot his scene for the Oct. 11 episode of the series.

"These are the toughest scenes, when you work with a baby," Carlos shares. "Nobody pays attention to you when you work with babies and animals, which is good because you can really mess up and no one will notice."

Initially, Carlos rehearses with a doll, since an infant's time on the set is limited, but when the real-life father is handed baby MICHAEL, who plays his TV son, you can tell he is a natural with kids.

Carlos is guest starring on the "Vote" episode of "7th Heaven," so the focus of the storyline is on the upcoming presidential election. Eric (STEPHEN COLLINS) and Annie (CATHERINE HICKS) are encouraging their kids to register to vote, and Eric phones Carlos to make sure that both he and Mary will make it to the ballot box.

"I love this set and I love the people here," Carlos says. "I love doing a show that my kids can watch. It is a good family show and it has a good moral at the end."

Being able to let his kids watch the series isn't its only perk. It has also brought Carlos to the attention of an entirely new demographic of fans than he was reaching with the music and the acting that he has been doing in Spanish.

"I went to do the Disney Parade at Christmas last year and it is funny because I thought I was just becoming extremely popular because people kept calling, 'Carlos, Carlos,' and then I realized they knew my character name from '7th Heaven,'" he recalls with a smile. Thanks to WTPooh.

For all you Stephen Collins fans:

Stephen Collins has an essay in the just-released book "If You Had Five Minutes With The President," published by Harper, Collins and edited by Ron Reagan, son of the late president. Celebrities such as Caroline Rhea, Joe Pantoliano, Sean Astin, Kenneth Cole, Fran Drescher, Charles Grodin and some fifty others each contributed their fantasy of what they'd say if they had a few minutes alone with the president. Stephen Collins also contributed a piece to a book called "Letters to J.D. Salinger," in which other writers such as W.P. Kinsella, Tom Robbins, and the late George Plimpton offer messages to the reclusive Salinger. "Letters to J.D .Salinger" is published by The University of Wisconsin Press and edited by Chris Kubica and Will Hochman. Both books are available at Amazon.com.

                    E! Columnist Reveals More Spoilers

E! Online Columnist Kristin Veitch gives out more 7th Heaven spoilers in her weekly Monday chat as she recently interviewed Barry Watson (Matt Camden), as he returns to the series this season, and will also be in front of and behind the camera.

From dare2dream892002: Anything on 7th Heaven?
From Barry Watson: "I'm doing about half of the episodes and directing some episodes as well. I would rather not act in the ones I'm directing, just because I don't want to wear makeup as I'm directing! [Laughs.] I want to focus on that because it's my first time directing and I'm doing it in such a familiar atmosphere. I'm really excited." Also (on Jessica Biel): "Jessie and I talk quite a bit. I was in Canada this past winter, and she was working there as well. We were trying to figure out a way for her to come back. I want her to come for one of the shows I direct, but it's a matter of whether they can work something out or not."

Oh, and David Gallagher on his character losing his virginity: "It's wild in the Camden world. That's not cool. So, I get some action, and that's fun. That's fun to film. I mean we're not filming anything racy or scandalous or anything like that, but it's interesting to be the one to get all the drama. This whole big old family of drama, of what are you doing, and it's all about me, and I'm just like 'What?' That's good 7th Heaven, we freak out over things."

                  August 16, 2004

This is a message from someones who nieces met Brenda Hampton and Aaron Spellings and theres some information on David Gallagher and Barry Watson-

That is something neat, Ashley did ask about stuff for me. DG's and BW's availability is less with school and writing, DG was available when 7th Heaven went back to filming til school started, now his schedule is less and less. Just 1day and even less hours. GEEZ why does everyone go back in August to school? They asked about Peter too, just that he maybe back b4 its all over thats all they could tell them. The crowd that approached them asked other questions, but not much on 7th Heaven. That figures Ashley only asked about Peter, DG and BW.

So they do go to the WB. Hampton was actually surprised not more asked about WB's popular show. My brother in law says 7th Heaven was posted everywhere on the grounds, but why if its not filmed there. That is news to me, I thought they had some scenes filmed there, in a warehouse behind where its out of bounds to tourists.

                  Barry Watsons new movie

The only way you're going to convince me that Ghost House Productions' upcoming Boogeyman isn't some Darkness Falls/They hybrid is by showing me the damn film. Oops, looks like I missed my chance at that since a screening has recently been held somewhere in Los Angeles. Naturally, one of Harry Knowles' scoopers got a peek at the film and weighed in with some thoughts.

A brief background on the flick: Boogeyman was the second film announced "in the works" at Sam Raimi's Ghost House following 30 Days of Night. Shot in New Zealand - with Barry Watson, Emily Deschanel, and Lucy Lawless amongst the cast - Boogeyman is the story of one man who returns to his hometown to face painful childhood memories that, we can only assume, involve the titular monster. One director dropped out early in principal photography and Stephen Kaye stepped in.

More Casting Info Confirmed By Beck and Merilyn

DEAR MARILYN & STACY: I saw what you said about the comings and goings for 7th Heaven....What about Ashlee Simpson....with her music and MTV commitments will she be returning?- Brandi. Tulsa, OK

DEAR BRANDI: Yours was part of an avalanche of follow-up questions that followed our recent report about "7th Heaven." Space prevents our repeating them all, but we will hope to answer your latest query -- and many others -- about the show with the following: (1) Though Ashlee told us a few weeks ago that she will be back for a few episodes, a "7th Heaven" representative now informs us there are no plans for her to return to the show at this time. (2) Jeremy London's role as the series' younger minister has been dropped as part of an overall plan to refocus action on the Camden family -- which is why Barry Watson and David Gallagher are returning to their portrayals as the two eldest sons and why Rachel Blanchard as the beautiful cop has been dropped. (3) Jeremy has said he'll be working with his brother Jason on a couple of film projects. (4) Beverly Mitchell and George Stults, who plays her husband, are definitely still with the show. In fact, they and Makenzie Rosman (who portrays Ruthie) are taking part in a national K Mart billboard and TV advertising campaign (a new tie-in with the firm will have some of the "7th Heaven" youngsters wearing K Mart clothes). (5) Ruthie is 14, as is Mackenzie, the talented actress who plays her (6) Aaron Carter, who'll play Ruthie's boyfriend, is 17.

7th Heaven cutie Barry Watson is engaged to his girlfriend, Tracy Hutson, the couple announced Monday. Barry popped the question on August 3. Tracy is an actress and interior designer on ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. No wedding date has been set, but given Barry's "heavenly" ties, we have a feeling he won't have trouble finding a minister.

Simpson chalks up a passable debut

                  Ashlee Simpson- Autobiography

“It used to be so hard being me/ Living in the shadow/ Of someone else’s dream…/ But now that I am wide awake/ my chains are finally free/ Don’t feel sorry for me.” So sings Ashlee Simpson, 19, on “Shadow”, the best and most personal song on her first disc. Of course, that shadow belongs to big sister Jessica- Ashlee has followed the elder Simpson into pop-diva (as well as into the wacky world of reality television with her own MTV series, the Ashlee Simpson Show.) But on Autobiography, Ashlee proves to be a credible talent in her own right. Instead of singing the sugary pop flavored by Mrs. Lachey, Ashlee brings a plucky rock edge to tunes like the crunchy “Pieces of Me”, the album’s hit first single, and the bubbly “Better off”, which should have Hilary Duff worried. Co-writing all 12 tracks, Simpson shows promise as a composer, although the succumbs to cliché on “Love Makes the World go Round” and could have alone without the insipid “LaLa”. And she doesn’t quite nail the tough rocker-click pose on cuts like the Joan Jett-esque “Love me for me”. Still, after Jessica’s most recent release, In this Skin, this round in the Simpson sibling rivalry goes to Ashlee-C.A.                  3 ½ stars out of 4

                    More 'Heaven Spoilers

New information has come out regarding Jessica Biel's character Mary and a new addition to the cast from the column Ask Beck/Smith....

DEAR MARILYN & STACY: Is Jessica Biel going back for the next season of "7th Heaven"?- Natalie California

DEAR NATALIE: There are no plans to bring back Jessica Biel's bad-girl character, Mary, on 7th Heaven this coming season. But, as we reported the other day, the two eldest sons on the series -- Barry Watson and David Gallagher -- will be back resuming the roles they left. And hear this: Aaron Carter will debut as Ruthie's (Mackenzie Rosman's) new dating interest on the third episode of the season and will remain on the show for two or three segments -- or more. What's happening to Ruthie's former boyfriend Peter (Scotty Leavenworth)? He's no longer with the series, and neither are Jeremy London and Rachel Blanchard, the young minister and the beautiful cop. - Thanks to WTPooh222

Note from Editor: Carter is the second pop star to join a WB show this year. Nick Lachey joined the cast of Charmed for a few episodes.

Hollywood-Ashlee Simpson may not have to go through life much longer being known primarily as Jessica's little sister. The 19-year-old quasi-punkette's debut album, "Autobiography," entered the sales charts at No. 1 on Wednesday after selling 398,000 copies in its first week in stores. That sales figure is the six highest first-week total of 2004 and the highest for any teen pop singer, even topping the 381,000 opening-week sales that Avril Lavigne's latest album, "Under My Skin," reached in May. Besides the Jessica connection, this Simpson's album sales were aided by the radio exposure of the singer's "Pieces of Me" single and her reality series on MTV. The only other new release to crack the top ten this week is Van Halen's retrospective, "The Best of Both Worlds." The two-disc package finished No. 3 after selling 138,000 copies.

Way back when in January or something TVtome announced that Rachel Blanchard(Roxanne) would be in a new movie, Without a Paddle. I went to the movies and saw a preview for it, it looks really good. It's going to be a comedy and it stars Seth Green, Matthew Lillard, Dax Shephard, Burt Reynolds, Rachel Blanchard, Bonnie Somerville, and Christina Moore.

It will be in theaters on August 18, 2004.

                    'Heaven' Beyond Season 9?

E! Online Columnist Kirstin Veitch gave a response to a user at a recent chat (Mon, Jul 26) about Charmed and 7th Heaven as she's been told through WB insiders at the recent TCA that 7th Heaven could go on longer more than this upcoming season...

From seba_88: What about Charmed? Is this the last season?
I asked Garth Ancier [WB president] about that--he said he thinks Charmed has more life in it and expects it to go for a while. Same with 7th Heaven.

                    More Info

In my personal opinion i really think 7th Heaven is going to have a 10th season, even on Stephen Collin's official site it says it's likely.

7th Heaven - Official Announcement: Studio's SRP, complete info, better cover art!
                  Posted by David Lambert
                  7/22/2004

In our June 21st news article we gave a lot of details about the specs for 7th Heaven - The Complete 1st Season. One of the things we talked about was the list price, or rather the lack of it at the time. One online retailer showed a $59.95 list price, another showed an $89.95 list price. We responded by pointing out that Paramount has a habit of not naming list prices for many of their TV-on-DVD sets, and that this seemed to be one of them.

Yesterday Paramount released more details about their September slate, and did in fact name an SRP for this title. They show that consumers should be able to buy this for around $50 in the USA, or around $60 in Canada. This is basically what we told you in our July 16 news post. Hopefully, that official word from the studio will help to settle a question which has been on consumers' minds since pre-orders went up.

Running back down the list of vital info: street date is September 14, for a 6-DVD set with 22 episodes with an official running time now stated to be 16 hours and 39 minutes. Full screen video, English Dolby Surround Stereo, French Stereo, and closed captioning make up the rest of the specs.

In the mid-July news post mentioned above, we provided a first look at cover art, but it wasn't quite up-to-snuff. Here's a much better look at the box for you:

David Gallagher Spills More About Simon

David Gallagher talks more with Entertainment Tonight more about his character Simon losing his virginity this upcoming season...

DAVID GALLAGHER, who has played Simon Camden on "7th Heaven" since he was 11 years old, gets to be the first Camden to have premarital sex, which is a big uh-oh in his world.

"It tears down the house and everyone freaks out about it. I think they tie it back to the accident where Simon had a car accident and he killed someone," says the actor who was off of the show last year as a result. "It is this whole psychological thing and I decide that sex is cool and I am not going to stop having it with this new girlfriend of mine."

That may be so, but the funniest bit is that the two are never in the same room when they are allegedly doing it! "When I talked to the writer I asked, 'Is there a scene where I get to have a cigarette in bed with this girl?' She said, 'Actually, not.'"

Rumor has been going around message boards that the the dog Happy on 7th Heaven died, but a recent question was asked to the Televisionary about Happy dying in real life and dispenses that rumor....

7th Heaven - Cover art for Season 1

Fans have been simply aching for the cover art from the upcoming DVD release of 7th Heaven - The Complete 1st Season. We have the following shot now, provided by a retail source who scanned it with the best available equipment, and we thank that person for their efforts. It's not the best shot, but we've cleaned it up as best we can. Here's a look:

September 14 is the day this debuts in stores, and it contains all 22 episodes on 6 DVDs. The running time is approximately 1080 minutes. No extras have been announced.

Describing the pricing is a bit tricky, because Paramount has opted not to set a list price for this item. However, consumers should expect to pay a DISCOUNTED price of around $50 for this release at your local retailer, or on-line. Keep in mind, though, that stores are free to set any price they choose. So although Paramount intends a price in the above range, any particular seller could decide to charge less...or much more.

If we get any more updates on this item, we'll be sure to bring them to you.

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) The Camden household will be getting crowded again this fall on "7th Heaven."

Original cast members Barry Watson and David Gallagher, who play brothers Matt and Simon Camden on The WB's longest-running series, are returning as regulars for the show's ninth season.

The network also made several other casting announcements Wednesday (July 14) at the TV Critics Association press tour, confirming reports that Erica Durance will play Lois Lane on "Smallville" and Scott Wolf will join "Everwood" as a regular. In addition to Durance, "Smallville" has added Jensen Ackles ("Dawson's Creek," "Dark Angel") as Lana Lang's (Kristin Kreuk) new boyfriend.

Watson dropped out of the regular cast of "7th Heaven" in 2002, shortly after being diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease (he's now in remission). He has since made several guest appearances and also worked on the show's writing staff.

Gallagher left the series early last season when Simon went off to college. He, too, returned for some guest spots later in the season.

                  Season 9 description

One of The WB's most enduring shows, 7th Heaven returns for a record 9th season with a year of transitions. Teenage son Simon (David Gallagher) comes home from college ready to reclaim his place in the family, and the heart of former flame Cecilia (Ashlee Simpson). As for parents Annie and Eric, nothing announces the passage of time like the word "grandchildren!" After daughter Mary has her baby, will things return to normal? Not likely - because daughter Lucy (Beverley Mitchell) and new husband Kevin (George Stults) are about to announce they will be adding another new Camden to the brood.

This is what Stephen Collins has to say:

Some people seem to think that the 2004-2005 season will be the last for 7th Heaven, but they've heard rumors or comments which are mistaken. After its 8th season, 7th Heaven is still the WB Network's highest rated program. No decision will be made about the show's future until some time after the start of the Fall season, and maybe not until as late as May, 2005. As soon as we know anything, we'll pass it on to you. Check here for information about 7th Heaven's Fall premiere as soon as we have it. Fans of David Gallagher will be happy to know that David will be back in the role of Simon Camden next season.

Creator Brenda Hampton Talks About 'Heaven'

Despite 7th Heaven's co-star Stephen Collins making a point on his official website (www.stephencollins.com) that the decision on 7th Heaven's fate after its ninth season hasn't been made yet, 7th Heaven creator and executive producer Brenda Hampton has once again been quoted in a recent article on the ninth season more than likely being the shows last as she wants the show to "go out strong," despite the show still being the highest-rated WB show.

Editor's Note: Additionally all of the actors contracts on the show end after next season and it's not yet decided if Catherine Hicks, David Gallagher, and other actors on the show will sign on. But Stephen Collins and Beverley Mitchell seem to be the most willing in going for a 10th season as they've expressed desires to continue the show in recent interviews.

                          'Ashlee' on 'Regis and Kelly'

7th Heaven co-star Ashlee Simpson was on Live with Regis and Kelly this morning and made more confirmation that she will not be a regular in the series 9th season and confirmed that there will be ONE more season of the show, but will probably not be in a lot of it as she will only appear to wrap up her character, Cecilia.

Ashlee Simpson Negotiates '7th Heaven' Bow-Out

It Girl Ashlee Simpson is in negotiations now for her bow-out from 7th Heaven.

"I'm going to do a few episodes to end the character. I know – sad news," says Ashlee, who has been playing Cecilia on the WB series since 2002. "I don't know how many more episodes I'll do yet. I love the show. It really is such a great show. But with my going on tour and all that stuff, I just can't go on with it."

That stuff, for the 19-year-old sister of pop star Jessica Simpson, includes her own MTV reality series – The Ashlee Simpson Show – which is due to launch June 16. Camera crews have been in her apartment and they've been following her around for months, capturing the singer/actress as she has been working to launch herself into the music scene's big time.

"It's cool," she says of the camera teams and her fishbowl existence. "They're all like my friends now."

We caught up with the beauty -- who dyed her blond hair dark brown with a little red after filming her last 7th Heaven for the season – just after she finished a visit to "AOL Sessions." Her intimate, off-the-cuff performance of three songs and chat will debut on AOL June 25.

Her first album, Autobiography, is due June 20 and she'll be touring to support it. Her Pieces of Me video and single launched last month, and she says she can't believe the exhilaration of finding fans know her song from the radio.

Ashlee's MTV show will be on back-to-back with her big sister's The Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, so the contrast between siblings will be readily apparent. Ashlee admits to being blunt, and she's sure she'll see herself say things she wishes she hadn't. Asked what will be the first thing viewers notice about her on the MTV'er, Ashlee says, "They're going to notice I'm crazy and I love to have a good time." -Beck/Smith Exclusive

                          Mackenzie Rosman not Leaving 'Heaven'!

After so many e-mails to us editors, we are finally putting the rumors to rest of Mackenzie Rosman (Ruthie Camden) leaving 7th Heaven. SHE'S NOT LEAVING THE SERIES! There is no movie called Cut starring Mackenzie Rosman that is being made and she continue her 7th Heaven role full time next season. The rumor is a lie. Hopefully, everyone will now be straight with this rumor as it is not true.

Is Season 9 really the last season of "7th Heaven"? Maybe not, only time will tell.

Kristen from E! Online interviewed Bev at the WB upfronts and Bev said the show will go on for "However long everybody watches, so keep watching. I don't know, it's amazing. We're in our ninth season, when most shows are usually declining in the ratings, and we're still holding strong. We pulled in the best numbers on our season finale, and we're just steamrolling everybody." Bev also said she has no plans of leaving the show, which means she will stick it out till the end, whenever that is. " This is my home, and I'm really lucky to be here." So it appears that the 9th season may not be the last season, but only time will tell next year. If the show continues for 10 seasons, it will have 221-223 episodes making it somewhere around the 40th longest running show ever. If the show lasts for 9 seasons it would most likley finish with 200 episodes.
