Cerisy La ForÍt sits roughly halfway between Bayeux [20 mins] and Saint LŰ [15mins],set alongside spectacular countryside and forests alike, it is an ideal location to vacation, for walking, horse riding, birdwatching, fishing and cycling to name but a few being nearby the forest of Cerisy and the River Elle.
This location is the ideal locale from which to explore this part of Normandy, being with-in easy reach of the D-day landing sites, beaches and memorials, and a whole lot more. The entire area is steeped in both cultural and historical places to visit.
Golf There are a total of 37 golf courses in Normandy to choose from, ranging from a 9 hole "pay as you go " course to 18 hole championship round courses.
Beaches The northern beaches which are a 25 minute drive away or the western beaches at around a 45-60 minute drive all offer spectacular beach activities, swimming and exploring oppurtunities abound. One of the best beaches is at Agon-Coutainville about 45 minutes drive.
Go Karting A mere 15 minutes drive away in St Lo is an electric indoor go karting track, which is tremendous fun for all ages.
Bungee For the more adventurous, AJ Hackett operates a 61 metre bungee jump over the Souleuvre River, [not for the faint hearted, but great fun for all ages].
Fishing There are many rivers and lakes close by the cottage to fish , including the lake right at the front door of the cottage, permit required.
Horse Riding There are locally available horse riding centres for both the novice and experienced riders alike.
Markets Worth a visit are the bustling markets at St Lo and Bayeux, or take a drive to Grand Camp Maisey and see what the fresh fish catch is.There is also a market on Sunday mornings in Port-en-Bessin a picturesque working port with bars and restaurants on the quay side. The nearest market is on Thursday morning in Molly Litray.
Places of Interest There are many places to discover, including the coastal town of Granville, to visit the birthplace of Christian Dior or a little further le Mont Saint Michel is worth a visit and the beautiful harbour at Honfleur, with its numerous restaurants.
Also of interest also maybe the many D-day museums war graves and monuments including the 360 degree cinema at Arromanches.
The hot air balloon museum at Balleroy is a mere 10 minutes away and for the kids, Fiestyland Adventure Park near Caen would make splendid day out to keep them interested and happy.
