A down cast night.

 By Halina Mugame

The 4 yo information podcast has been up and raring like a car on a full tank of gas. Everyone has their good days and bad days, and it was time to have a bad day I suppose.

The cast did not have its usual flare they usually have and not even all the questions were answered. When a caller called in he abruptly hung up and the cast was boring the rest of the night. Even the host who is usually funny was uninteresting that night.

The good thing was that skype had its skypecast fixed, and Robert could have muted anyone who was being disruptive. The issue was however, that no one came, except for a few people. Seriously, this was not a good night at all, but everyone has bad days and good ones, so I will not badger too much.

The questions were boring and the mood was also boring. I guess its something about Fridays huh? Well whatever the issue was, I knew the cast would have a bad episode sooner or later. People do have bad days, and theirs has come, and let me tell you it was bad.

No news, no music, no laughter, no topics. Just dreadful.

Amanda did have a guest over, but she was shy and timid and would not speak up, and that phone call that came in seamed hilarious, but it was cut off.

I do not know what to say, so I will focus on the website. The cast actually has a good setup. I also see some HTML that was pretty spiffy by Robert w kingett.

My reviews are posted on the sight also, with links to hear the reviews if you do not have a screen reader. This I like a lot and I hope other blind people do too.

I am going to get back to the cast for a minute. There was one part that was funny, when Robert played a file about different computer synthesizers. That was mainly the only thing that can be highlighted about the podcast.

The sight also now has a download link, which is convenient for people who want to put them on CD, but technically these are copywriter material so any stealing and selling will be charged to the full extent of the law.

Many people like my reviews of the cast, and many have asked me to do a specific review of the website, I have not gotten around to doing that yet, but I will someday.

something that caught my attention is there are no official CD's of the cast, that would be sort of neat to have a CD with all episodes on it to share with people, but I see no flyer's on their web page at all. Maybe that will come in the future.

all in all this cast was terrible, no news, dull questions and half interested cast members, and no life it seamed what so ever. I hope that next week will be better anyway, because this episode is worth skipping. And also it ends at a weird part, but the quality was good. Seriously, skip this episode, and wait for the next one.

 PODCAST REVIEW 12...

 Laughter all around

By Halina Mugame on Sunday, February 24, 2008

The 4 yo information podcast hasn't stopped yet, and that is sure a good thing in the internet world! Podcast 12 was just as interesting as last week’s episode, and the cast has integrated something new this time.

For all those people who want to send a voice comment to the team, but you do not have a microphone or any recording software present, there is a solution! It’s called a phone number! Yes folks, the team actually has a phone number which you can call the show on. The thing is though that it is only a voice messaging service, however there is another number listed as the show number on their freewebs contact us page.

Anyway, on to the cast itself. The team was in high spirits that night and answering questions well after some small technical difficulties ensued. The team started of my listening to a voice comment done by a gentlemen who just sort of rambled on and on about hop scotch, but all in all it was hilarious to say the least, and I think I like hearing the comments better then having someone read all the time. There was also a question from a girl who was having talking issues with her boyfriend, and she wanted to know how to get him talking. The team thought that he did not like her the way she liked him and they told her to ask him straight up. No questions asked. Just ask him if he liked her the same way than she liked him. So, Niccole if you are reading this, hope things work out for you I thought the team handled that quite well, and I was not disappointed in their answer or what they thought.
I do have a slight complaint however, the theme song in the beginning is nice and loud, but the podcast was quieter, and I had to turn the volume up a notch. Could you possibly use the same technique that you used to record the intro? And the jaws talking when other people were trying to talk is rather confusing, but other than that I have no other issues about it.

Laughter is always a good feeling to distribute, and that’s what the cast did. they delivered laughter, telling quite some hilarious stories about  when they were at FSDB (which I know now after looking it up is the Florida school for the deaf and the blind.) the rip van winkle story was hilarious. I didn't know you could actually sleep on a playground. I also didn't know you could loose a glass eye in the mulch, but then again I am very sheltered so I don't know a lot of weird things. I did not hate the interesting stories. In fact I showed them to all my friends and family. The cast is good and I highly recommend you check it out if you have not done so already!

Genny was the question barer this week and she was not bad. Fluently and elaborating on the questions was a huge plus. Also, the Hawaiian lady whose name I still cannot spell read some, and she was not bad at all either. Even though, her speed is faster than Genny’s. Genny’s was quite elegant and smooth.

The topic I want to address most is one about friends. When you get in middle school and all that the friends that you still had in elementary will follow you around a lot. Or so you think. When you get in high school and they leave you or change it hurts like you would never believe. The cast had a touching discussion and I would encourage people to listen to this podcast. Seriously, they deserve more credit than they are getting.

radio station are buzzing about them now, usually on the morning radio show someone will call in and say something to the effect of "I listened to this awesome podcast that has these blind teenager’s as hosts." and the radio company will only be like half interested. Seriously, these kids are real, even more real than some radio shows are!

One topic that also caught my eye or ear I should say was one about a kid having a stepmother who thinks he is inadequate. He does things for her approval and she denies him as if he is not a part of the family. The team gave a good answer and I respected that. They did not joke when a real serious issue occurred, and their thoughts are articulate and clear, and presented well. This is a good crew and I hope they remain up.

I once again have a limited amount of time to review, but I highly recommend that you listen to the series. It’s good, it’s real, and it’s touching. I do hope the series will go on, and I cannot go into much detail given the time span I am on. All I have to say is... wow!

A weird night! (Note. same review just added on to it due to lack of time on my hands)

By Halina Mugame on Tuesday, February 19, 2008

As everyone knows by now the 4 yo information podcast has been, and still is a huge hit on the net waves ever since it made its débuted last year in June. every week the cast gets just a little more interesting, and even sometimes it gets a little hilarious and weird, but this weeks episode came from a show of Ripley's believe it or not and trust me, that wasn't a bad thing at all.

first off the skypecast started at the appointed time as stated on their web page, but when I went in there they all were breaking up so bad it reminded me of one of those cheap cell phones you get at target or RadioShack. It looked like no one was going to hear the cast and we would have to endure two hours of garbled clipped words, when all of a sudden they all left, and never came back to the skypecast again. That was perfectly fine considering that we could not hear anything anyway, that meant that I was going to have to wait until Robert posted the episode on Gcast. it killed me, but let me just say that this episode was worth the wait with the interesting questions that came in, and the new hot sounding co-host this cast without a doubt is a must hear..

A new co-host has come on the cast. He is energetic, he is lively, and he is a huge kingdom hearts fan! His name is Lenny, and he can leap three key blades in a single bound! All joking aside, the fact I liked about him coming was the fact that he was not shy, he didn't badger the host for his stuttering issues, and his reactions to some of the questions presented were enough entertainment for me even if I was bored out of my mind and I hated the cast. In short, he was perfect. His voice is clear, and his thoughts are that of a thoughtful person with much intellect, still it does not match Roberts intellect by a long shot, but still his insightful hilarious shocked comments left me rolling on the floor laughing so loud my walls shook.

In the question department things were hopping with weirdness as though it came from an are you afraid of the dark T.V show. It seamed like the listeners were having a little contest to see if he or she could make the weirdest question alive to try and stump the team. Where as, the questions presented, were not for these teenagers, and for a trained professional in mental analysis, the cast still handled the questions well with much thought on the subject. Since more people were there more opinions were displayed which was a good, and sometimes hilarious aspect. I will not have time to go through each question, since I only have a two minute span to write this review, and for all my readers out there thank you for the comments on last weeks review of the cast, I love my readers, and I hope you all love me too but I will try my best to comb over everything.

The first question that I can remember anyway, that was presented stated that he did not want his younger sibling to bring dolls to school, and to stop asking his African American teacher to be his baby’s daddy. What was so hard about answering this question was that the person did not give an age as to how old his brother was, so the cast had 2 answers for each person, and each were insightful and some were hilarious.  In the end though. Everyone presented the right amount of intellect and humor.

A guest also came along with the team, and she was sensational. Giving thoughtful intelligent, good problem solving answers.  The rest of the questions were just as weird as the first one. One in particular dealt with a cat trying to kill himself and a bird egging him on. Robert jokingly answered "bring him to trial!" which made me bust 5 ribs that night. After the laughing stopped the serious answers started coming along. Some people may be frowning at this episode for their humor, but seriously how can you not laugh at a bird who threatens to kill someone.

The cast was uploaded once before, but it was only a half episode. So I offered to do another review to make sure that I get the full effect of this cast. Once I was able to get the whole cast I immediately liked the rest of it. One topic that was addressed that the whole world should be aware of is a question about a kid who lived in the UK, and people looked down on him and even closed down a skate park because some people thought that all teenagers in the whole wide world are evil, and drugged up kids who hate school. The cast was all serious with this question, which was good. We as teenagers are discriminated against in our own way, and people need to listen to this episode mainly because the podcast itself is a huge symbol that teenagers need to show to adults that not all are like the kids on T.V. One question other than this one captured my attention as well. A question about a distressed mom who’s son is obsessed with writing, and is not doing his school work. The team handled that question well, and the personal experiences that were presented along with this topic made this question worth combing over.

An interesting topic came about as well. The topic about fictionpress making you a better writer came about towards the end of the show, and it was interesting. The cast pointed out that it does make you a better writer because it gives you the chance to experiment with different styles of writing and poetry, and also you can have comments on your stories. Some are helpful, and the majority of the people on fan fiction and fictionpress are nice and give advice on a story if they do not think that the story is good.

The topic was blindness as the last one of the night. It was interesting to hear that blind people actually do not like what some of us sighted people do thinking that we are helping him or her. When the cast ended however, I was still skeptical. Since there is no theme song on the show at all, there is some question on if it is actually over or not. You guys should have a beginning theme song and an end song, like credits on a T.V show. Other than that I do not have any complaints what so ever.

All in all the questions were interesting in a strange sort of way. From a gay teacher hitting on a student, which Robert made some wise crack about that was actually funny, to a women who has a younger sister, who is obsessed with breasts. The questions were hilarious and the wit that radiated through the cast members made this an even more fun experience. This is a must download for all fans of the series, and I hope this continues on, because everyone needs a good laugh once in a while, and let me tell you. This cast definitely delivers the laughter and fun that it was originally meant to have

the Team hits a big one!

By Halina Mugame on Sunday, February 10, 2008

the 4 yo information podcast has been up on the net waves for a while now growing in popularaty ever since it made its debute in june of 2007.The latest 2 episode in the 4 yo information series was good, if not better than the previous ones for various reasons.

First off the cast had left for a while and Villu just decided to drop the podcast like they were just dogs who didn't perform adiquitly to his standards, so i am taking up the reviews here on out. now, the cast is back after not doing one for a month now, last weeks episode was good, but the host was not there.amanda and a friend had taken up the task and they had performed splendedly doing jokes and making me laugh, along with answering the questions with good intelect and a open mind, meaning that evreything was combed over as an answer.

this week, the cast had a few new guests with their own insightful opinions about subjects that were just perfect for the mood of the podcast.the questions were answered adiquitly and officiant, even a question about discrimination was talked about and handled with such maturaty and thought you could not even compare them to a typical morning radio show, because they care about their listeners more than some huge radio shows. the cast was actually interesting,  the wide range of comical topics provided by a host with a huge sugar rush such as a pool made of jello was the highlight of my night, and i hope that they keep up such humor. the host was hillarious and kept me entertained with his hilarious remarks to some questions   !

one of the questions that the cast handled better than all the others was one about a person having eye surgery, he was confused as to what to do and the cast spent half the show trying to help this person with his choice. you are in our prayers! hope you do the right thing buddy!

next up was small talk about the elections coming up. all think that either Obamma or Hillery should be apointed into office. they gave officiant reasons why they thought the way they did, and the usuall disorder of chaos was not had this time, which made it better for us to hear wat the cast was actually talking about.

Many people in the past have compared them to the "Lex and terry Radio show." That is true, they do seam to be taking the same route as Lex and terry have taken, although these kids are ahead of the shows podcast downloads by three bilion downloads in the past year. the way that these people are different than lex and terry are. they do not belittle people, they respect people, and have an open mind about any person. along with the wit that comes in each package, this podcast, does, and i am sure will. have more to offer as time passes. another thing i like about them is that they are not trying to compete with the popular morning radio show. they are going about their own business, and that's what i like. they don't want a huge battle to see who wins. they just want to help. as many people as they can without getting in lex and terries way.

the podcast has been talked about on the lex and terry show before, with negative sarcastic comments thrown in while reading the news article about the teenagers. the crew, except for Dee and Peter who have had personal contact with Robert Kingett belittled the podcast for "copying them." in terms of personality and what they are doing. anyway, by far. the 4 yo information podcast was, and still is, better than lex and terry because they actually try and help the person rather than make some huge show out of a serious problem.

the new casts freewebs page is good, with a about me, a bio about each of the characters, and even a contact us section, and you can even listen to the podcasts online and subscribe online also. they designed the web page well, and i hope it remains up. i have however, found something that is interesting. when i was combing the home page i have found that the about the podcast was exactly the same thing as watt i have on the 4 yo informations myspace page.  i do not mind though.

anyway, back to the podcast. next up, Fcat was talked about. the host actually brought up some good points on why the Fcat is tedious in students minds, and amanda had brought up a good question. "if the students take Fcat online, will they concentrate more?" this was an interesting question with even more interesting discussion taking place. and i think people should listen to this episode more, and mabey Fcat will become a better tool, and not just a  burden in our education.

genny, Robert, and amanda have transformed themselves into a lex and terry for teenagers, and blind docter phill weather they know it or not. these kids cover issues and situations that are not even broadcasted on radio or on the news networks on television, and they cover thoes issues with a adept intellect provided by the host, an equally matching intellect by Amanda, and an supreme open mind by genny jones.so many people are drawn to this cast because of the huge wealth of information and the multitude of personality's that are in this cast. now all they need is an African American opinion and they will be up to date in all areas!
