PODCAST REVIEW 12...
Laughter all around
By Halina Mugame on Sunday, February 24, 2008
The
4 yo information podcast hasn't stopped yet, and that is sure a good
thing in the internet world! Podcast 12 was just as interesting as last
week’s episode, and the cast has integrated something new this time.
For
all those people who want to send a voice comment to the team, but you
do not have a microphone or any recording software present, there is a
solution! It’s called a phone number! Yes folks, the team actually has
a phone number which you can call the show on. The thing is though that
it is only a voice messaging service, however there is another number
listed as the show number on their freewebs contact us page.
Anyway,
on to the cast itself. The team was in high spirits that night and
answering questions well after some small technical difficulties
ensued. The team started of my listening to a voice comment done by a
gentlemen who just sort of rambled on and on about hop scotch, but all
in all it was hilarious to say the least, and I think I like hearing
the comments better then having someone read all the time. There was
also a question from a girl who was having talking issues with her
boyfriend, and she wanted to know how to get him talking. The team
thought that he did not like her the way she liked him and they told
her to ask him straight up. No questions asked. Just ask him if he
liked her the same way than she liked him. So, Niccole if you are
reading this, hope things work out for you I thought the team handled
that quite well, and I was not disappointed in their answer or what
they thought.
I do have a slight complaint however, the theme song
in the beginning is nice and loud, but the podcast was quieter, and I
had to turn the volume up a notch. Could you possibly use the same
technique that you used to record the intro? And the jaws talking when
other people were trying to talk is rather confusing, but other than
that I have no other issues about it.
Laughter is always a good
feeling to distribute, and that’s what the cast did. they delivered
laughter, telling quite some hilarious stories about when they were at
FSDB (which I know now after looking it up is the Florida school for
the deaf and the blind.) the rip van winkle story was hilarious. I
didn't know you could actually sleep on a playground. I also didn't
know you could loose a glass eye in the mulch, but then again I am very
sheltered so I don't know a lot of weird things. I did not hate the
interesting stories. In fact I showed them to all my friends and
family. The cast is good and I highly recommend you check it out if you
have not done so already!
Genny was the question barer this week
and she was not bad. Fluently and elaborating on the questions was a
huge plus. Also, the Hawaiian lady whose name I still cannot spell read
some, and she was not bad at all either. Even though, her speed is
faster than Genny’s. Genny’s was quite elegant and smooth.
The
topic I want to address most is one about friends. When you get in
middle school and all that the friends that you still had in elementary
will follow you around a lot. Or so you think. When you get in high
school and they leave you or change it hurts like you would never
believe. The cast had a touching discussion and I would encourage
people to listen to this podcast. Seriously, they deserve more credit
than they are getting.
radio station are buzzing about them now,
usually on the morning radio show someone will call in and say
something to the effect of "I listened to this awesome podcast that has
these blind teenager’s as hosts." and the radio company will only be
like half interested. Seriously, these kids are real, even more real
than some radio shows are!
One topic that also caught my eye or
ear I should say was one about a kid having a stepmother who thinks he
is inadequate. He does things for her approval and she denies him as if
he is not a part of the family. The team gave a good answer and I
respected that. They did not joke when a real serious issue occurred,
and their thoughts are articulate and clear, and presented well. This
is a good crew and I hope they remain up.
I once again have a
limited amount of time to review, but I highly recommend that you
listen to the series. It’s good, it’s real, and it’s touching. I do
hope the series will go on, and I cannot go into much detail given the
time span I am on. All I have to say is... wow!

podcast review 10
the Team hits a big one!
By Halina Mugame on Sunday, February 10, 2008
the
4 yo information podcast has been up on the net waves for a while now
growing in popularaty ever since it made its debute in june of 2007.The
latest 2 episode in the 4 yo information series was good, if not better
than the previous ones for various reasons.
First
off the cast had left for a while and Villu just decided to drop the
podcast like they were just dogs who didn't perform adiquitly to his
standards, so i am taking up the reviews here on out. now, the cast is
back after not doing one for a month now, last weeks episode was good,
but the host was not there.amanda and a friend had taken up the task
and they had performed splendedly doing jokes and making me laugh,
along with answering the questions with good intelect and a open mind,
meaning that evreything was combed over as an answer.
this
week, the cast had a few new guests with their own insightful opinions
about subjects that were just perfect for the mood of the podcast.the
questions were answered adiquitly and officiant, even a question about
discrimination was talked about and handled with such maturaty and
thought you could not even compare them to a typical morning radio
show, because they care about their listeners more than some huge radio
shows. the cast was actually interesting, the wide range
of comical topics provided by a host with a huge sugar rush such as a
pool made of jello was the highlight of my night, and i hope that they
keep up such humor. the host was hillarious and kept me entertained
with his hilarious remarks to some questions !
one
of the questions that the cast handled better than all the others was
one about a person having eye surgery, he was confused as to what to do
and the cast spent half the show trying to help this person with his
choice. you are in our prayers! hope you do the right thing buddy!
next
up was small talk about the elections coming up. all think that either
Obamma or Hillery should be apointed into office. they gave officiant
reasons why they thought the way they did, and the usuall disorder of
chaos was not had this time, which made it better for us to hear wat
the cast was actually talking about.
Many
people in the past have compared them to the "Lex and terry Radio
show." That is true, they do seam to be taking the same route as Lex
and terry have taken, although these kids are ahead of the shows
podcast downloads by three bilion downloads in the past year. the way
that these people are different than lex and terry are. they do not
belittle people, they respect people, and have an open mind about any
person. along with the wit that comes in each package, this podcast,
does, and i am sure will. have more to offer as time passes. another
thing i like about them is that they are not trying to compete with the
popular morning radio show. they are going about their own business,
and that's what i like. they don't want a huge battle to see who wins.
they just want to help. as many people as they can without getting in
lex and terries way.
the
podcast has been talked about on the lex and terry show before, with
negative sarcastic comments thrown in while reading the news article
about the teenagers. the crew, except for Dee and Peter who have had
personal contact with Robert Kingett belittled the podcast for "copying
them." in terms of personality and what they are doing. anyway, by far.
the 4 yo information podcast was, and still is, better than lex and
terry because they actually try and help the person rather than make
some huge show out of a serious problem.
the
new casts freewebs page is good, with a about me, a bio about each of
the characters, and even a contact us section, and you can even listen
to the podcasts online and subscribe online also. they designed the web
page well, and i hope it remains up. i have however, found something
that is interesting. when i was combing the home page i have found that
the about the podcast was exactly the same thing as watt i have on the
4 yo informations myspace page. i do not mind though.
anyway,
back to the podcast. next up, Fcat was talked about. the host actually
brought up some good points on why the Fcat is tedious in students
minds, and amanda had brought up a good question. "if the students take
Fcat online, will they concentrate more?" this was an interesting
question with even more interesting discussion taking place. and i
think people should listen to this episode more, and mabey Fcat will
become a better tool, and not just a burden in our education.
