R'Island - a Storyline of Hope - was a huge success.
The Camp participants had fun while learning English. Storyline proved to be an amazing methodology for Summer Camps too!! Take a look at what the kids made !
"R' (Our) Island" (Storyline_RIsland_Course Plan.pdf) is the theme which organizes the English Language Program. The teaching methodology to develop "R' Island" will be Storyline.
Briefly, "R' Island" is a story about an island which is threatened by a natural disaster. As the story develops, the inhabitants of R'Island are asked to do some tasks to deal with the future of their island.
The camp participants- divided in 4 groups in each class- will develop their own island, its inhabitants/their daily life, neighborhood, etc.
As the story develops, every day/class there are new episodes designed to surprise and challenge the participants. The last episodes are designed to provide opportunities for the English teachers & their assistants to share about important decisions related to the students' future life.
Important: Teachers & assistants in a storyline program work as story tellers. As in a story the reader is not supposed to know the episodes of the story in advance, in this program the episodes of the story will be unfolded day by day. Thus, the success of this program depends on the teachers keeping secret about the whole program and unfold the story for the students according the instructions for each day/activity.
