    Paints:
Base Colors (Needed) - Ultramarines Blue, Blood Red, Shining Gold, Goblin Green, Boltgun Metal, Bleached Bone, Scorched Brown.
Highlighting (Optional) - Fiery Orange, Enchanted Blue, Burnished Gold, Mithril Silver.
Undercoat (Needed) - Black Spray

Tools:
Brushes (Needed) - Drybrush, Detail Brush.
Basing (Optional) - Static Grass, Sand.

Step 1 - Armour
Glue sand onto the SM base and then prime it with black spray. This will seal down the sand so it won't come off while painting the base. Get Ultramarines Blue and lightly drybrush all the armor. Do this several times instead of 1 thick coat as this will bring out the colour, but won't chip off. Make sure you dont get the blue in the cracks.

Step 2 - Trim
Get Shining Gold out and paint it all over the skulls, chest eagle and trim.

Step 3 - Gun
Paint the upper casing of the gun a few watered down shades of Blood Red until it is an even coverage. Next, drybrush the lower half Boltgun Metal.

Step 4 - Detail
Now we paint all the detail on the SM. Paint the vents and thrusters on his jetpack Boltgun Metal and the eyes and purity seal stamp Blood Red. Now paint the purity seal parchment Bleached Bone.

Step 5 - Basing
Paint the base Goblin Green and then the sand Scorched Brown. Then drybrush the sand with Bleached Bone and when it dries put a small dob of PVA glue here and there and dip it in some static grass.

There! Now you have painted your first Ultramarine!
