PYE V210/A.                              17".   Introduced 1960.

This was the first vintage tv set I bought. The tuner is motorised and stations changed by pressing the "AUTO" button. This set was priced at 65 guineas, legs and a wired remote control were optional extras at 1½ guineas and 3 guineas respectfully. ( 1 guinea = £1.05 ). CLICK TO SEE THE INSIDE OF THIS SET.

 

 

SOBELL T279. 17". Introduced 1959 or 1960.

This is one of my favourite sets. It has twin speakers and built in radio. A very compact set. CLICK TO SEE THE INSIDE OF THIS SET.

HMV 1910.                   C. 1960. This set has piano keys for switching on and off and selecting stations. It was possible to switch on and select a station just by pressing one key. The four station keys were also "on" switches. The price of this set in 1960 was 65 guineas, an optional set of matching legs and shelf were 3 guineas extra. GEC BT303. 17". Introduced 1959.

This set has a bowed implosion guard. A nice set although I personally feel that the appearance is let down a little by having a wood screen surround.CLICK TO THE INSIDE OF THIS SET.

 

 

BAIRD 19". Introduced c.1962.

This set could have been rented or sold from Radio Rentals. It could have been upgraded to receive the 625 line broadcasts when they became available later on in the 1960's. CLICK TO SEE THE INSIDE OF THIS SET.

 

 

EKCO T434. 19". Introduced  c.1963/4.

An early dual standard (405/625 line) set with rotary tuner controls. CLICK TO SEE THE INSIDE OF THIS SET.
