Team Marston's 3 Peaks Challenge 2008

As preparations for the challenge have really started to hot up now, we organised our second full team trip to one of the mountains, this time we went to Scafell Pike in the Lake District.

An early 3.45am start for everyone based down in Totton didn't deter and everyone was present for the 7 hour drive up to Scafell. This energy sapping journey was made all the worse by Tiny who quite cleverly managed to put the wrong co-ordinates into all the Sat Nav's, taking both vehicles to a small village called Seathwaite about 1hr30mins south of the mountain, rather than the Seathwaite at the foot of the mountain. This extra hour and a half didn't impress Tony too much who threatened Tiny with his P45 on monday.

The climb itself was quite tricky and required a lot more from the team than Snowdon had. Map reading and even a bit of rock climbing were seen (some handled this better than others). conditions on the whole were decent, apart from the summit where there was about half a meter of snow which slowed us down a little.

All in all a succesful day, which everyone seemed to cope with pretty well (even Sean with his lame foot) and it was all completed in 5 hours which was our target for the day. hopefully with better weather and knowledge of the terrain we could knock a valuable 1/2 hour off that time?

Here are a few photos from Scafell...
