Happy 4th of July.
The parade was a success. There were about 16 Rebels that showed up. While marching, we got to shoot off a couple of rounds to scare the Yanks that were ahead of us. We had them out numbered, of course. It was extremely hot out there today. The parade began at 10:00 this morning. By the time it was our turn to start moving it was around 10:45. Prior to this, the coordinators had us in staging for over an hour, in the sun. According to the thermometer, it was in the low 90's. However, we were wearing our early war attire. Nothing like 100% wool and 65 pounds of gear strapped to your back. Inside our coats it was hovering around 129°F. Needless to say, we drank a lot of water. Keep checking back, as soon as we get a chance, we will upload our photos from the event. If all goes well, the members of the 33rd will try and make it an annual event.
Well it's almost that time again. Tomorrow is our Independence Day. The members of the 33rd Virginia are taking part in a parade in Old Town Temecula. As of this writing, I do not know when the parade is to take place. We are to be there by 8:00 AM ready to go. If you Google Temecula, you may be able to find the times and if there are any costs. Check back soon for pictures.
The weekend of July 11 & 12, is the Fort MacArthur Marching Through History event. We will try and be present on Sunday. Due to previously scheduled events, we will be unable to attend on Saturday. Please keep checking back to see if anything changes. Happy hunting.
We Virginians always strive for safety; please have a safe and fun holiday.

This past weekend was the first event held in Costa Mesa at Fairview Park. It was a good event, rather small, but with luck it will grow and be a good addition to us as another local event. Unfortunatly, it was held on Mothers' Day Weekend. As a side note, the conferderates beet the Yanks on and off the field. The South was victorious against the North in the baseball game.
Coming up on May 25, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Magnolia Memorial Park. It is located on Magnolia, just south of Chapman. This is our 3rd year for attending this little Memorial. This is a free event, so come and join us to celebrate those who have faught and died for this great nation. Please keep a look out for information on our Long Beach event May 30-31, held at El Dorado Park, the largest Spring reenactment. Please keep a look out for updates and changes on our list of events for the year.
The list of events is finally done. Recently, there have been several changes to the list. This has made it increasingly difficult to maintain accuracy of events and their respective dates. I am almost done updating all of the pictures for each member of the unit. This can take awhile since I can only take pictures at events. This coming weekend is our next event,
This event brings a lot of people out. There are many settlers and food vendors to visit. Just follow the link to the park’s website for entrance costs and directions. Hope to see you there.
This past weekend the 33rd was in attendance at Knotts Berry Farm. It was purely a living history event. With that said, we, the members of the 33rd, met a lot of people interested in what we do and what we represent. I would like to take a moment to let everyone know that all questions coming in to my inbox will be answered. One such thing is the list of events for this year. It should be up soon. Just as a side note, at the end of the month we will be attending the event at St. Catherine's Military Academy, just north of Disneyland, on Harbor Blvd. It is February 28 and March first. We look forward to seeing lots of people there.
Pictures have been removed from the site due to a bandwith problem. I have just about got the issue worked out. Please show up at the next event and I will put some of these on line.
The new year is now upon us. I am working on the new list of events and will have it completed soon. There are a couple of people interested in joining our ranks. I will be contacting these people soon to discuss events and uniforms. Just as a reminder, we are an early war representation of the 33rd Virginia Company C. We are Confederates that ware blue. We look forward to the new year, with all of its events and new soldiers in our ranks.
Happy New Year, and we will see everyone on the field soon.
It has been a while since our last update. I am working dilligently behind the scenes at working on finishing certain areas of our web site. Soon I will hopefully have an accurate list of events the 33rd will be attending next year. We are just around the corner from the last event of the year we attend. At this time it looks like there will be a great turnout for our unit.
At our last event, Fresno, we were welcomed with open arms. Every person we met, liked our representation of our unit. Our unit answered questions for many hours throughout the weekend. We even managed to take fresh-fish out onto the field of battle. Several pictures were taken of these people. I do not have these at the moment, but after Moorepark, there will be many changes and updates to our site. We will be adding a list of friends who are not part of our unit, but have gought with us on occations. PLease, keep checking back for these updates. We look foreward to seeing everyone this weekend. I was told that information for this event can be foud at the Fort Tejon web site.
At Long Last
This past weekend we found our selves at Huntington Beach. There was a great turn out for the 33rd. We have moved ourselves into Second Battalion. There were a total of four incursions brought on by the enemy. We held them off during two of these attacks. We managed to capture an enemy officer and gather information from him. The Confederate forces have started to move toward Acton, at Thousand Trails. In late September, we hope to stop the warmongering Union Army from obtaining any more footholds in our region. I will try to determine our arrival date. Keep checking back for any updates in our mission for southern freedom.
It is going to be my goal as webmaster to try and update the new pictures of our recent triumphs. Also, I have been compiling more history of our unit, and I look forward to finally completing the history section. Please leave comments/questions on guestbook...
We find ourselves once again holding off the enemy at our front door. This time the Federals are moving on our door step. We must rally at El Dorado Regional Park. This park is located in east Long Beach. The Federals should make contact with us at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 31. With any luck, and a lot of gun powder, we should hopefully be pushing them back around 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 1.
Our encampments will be open for the public to come view how we live as soldiers. Travel from camp to camp and see the many differences in uniforms used by the Confederacy. With weapon demonstrations and sutlers to visit, there will be no lack of entertainment for people of all ages.

Today was the first two battles at St. Catherine's Military Academy. The 33rd Virginia was once again asked to galvanize with the Federals. We went ahead and did this due to the immense difference in the size of armys. Aside from this, the battles went well and we managed to repel the invading horde. With a total of 9 rifles making up our ranks, there may be a few more tomorrow. We will see...
Recently, one of the members of the 33rd celebrated a birthday at Joe's Crab shack. Here is a picture showing their support for our unit by flashing our 33rd sign.
It is now down to one week before the Calico event. This is your last chance to send in your registration for the ACWS. This event is solely for members. Get your paperwork in now so your name will appear on the master list of members, this will at least allow you to partake in this event. Also, has everyone been rolling their rounds? There are many battles as well as skirmishes at this event. To enjoy all of the scheduled battles will mean a large depletion of powder.
We have seen a very cold winter this year. That means that there is a possibility of snow and/or rain in Calico. Check the weather reports before you depart and head out. Be sure to pack the right equipment for all possible weather types. It is very cold at night, so please be sure to bring warm clothes. Last year, it was also very dark, the more lights the better it will be in camp. If you have a shortage on candles, Ikea has many yellow, period correct looking candles in bulk. It is always better to have and not need, then to need and not have. See everyone soon!
A lot has happened since the last event has come to a close. For the first time, our unit has had a booth at the Orange County Gun Show. We were met with rave reviews. The public has responded well to our early war portrayal of the Civil War. For those of you new to our site, we are a confederate unit that portrays a Virginia Unit from 1861. By doing this, we are wearing all blue uniforms, easily confused with the Yanks.
The first event of 2008 for us is at Calico Ghost Town. This is one event not to miss out on. Not only can spectators come and enjoy the reenactment of the Civil War, but also the town itself puts on many shows. Gun fights and other things of the Old West fill the streets for everyone to enjoy. Come enjoy the battles and look for us in camp. Remember, we are the blue soldiers in the middle of the confederate camp.
Las Vegas event is now behind us. This was a great event. There was quite a few units present at this event. Participation was down from last year, but this was mostly due to the wild fires in the Southern California area. Roads were congested and smoke was seen all the way to Jean, Nevada. Despite this, there were several cannons on each side and the regimenst were fairly large.
With this event now checked off, only one remains, Moorepark. This event is going to be huge. There are going to be hundreds of reenactors, as well as movie and TV stars. At this event, pyrotechnics are going to be present for realistic ground explosions. Check the link for more information on this event as well as the current list of sutlers. We hope to see you at this last event of the season.
More pictures have been added as well as captions. Refined most of the paragraphs throughout site. Keep checking back for more updates. Next time it won't take as long to add more to our site. Some history has been added as well as reasons that the war broke out.
Coming soon....
The history of the original 33rd Virginia Company C. The history is still being gathered from multiple sources and we want to get it right the first time.
