Beaches

Widemouth 4 miles along the Coast from Bude. A huge 2 mile long sandy beach, with plenty of car parking right behind it. Popular with surfers and families too. Tuition and board hire. A place for all the family. Life guards on duty in Season. Please take heed of the warnings and swim where indicated by the flags. Keep out of the water near the rocks.

Duckpool 3 miles North of Bude , near to Kilkhamton. A large beach with some small pebbles. In a beautiful setting. Like nearby Sandymouth reached down narrow country lanes with high hedges. Rarely busy, hidden in at the mouth of a deep valley, with a stream running down it. Lifeguard in Season but swimming advised only for the experienced in local conditions. Well worth a visit for the peace and quiet.

Sandymouth is a long sandy beach at low tide, but at high tide the water can come right up to the shingle bank or rocks at the top of the beach. Its a popular beach with a few caravan parks on the road leading to it, so it can get crowded in the summer with all forms of surf craft on the water. Parking is available in a car park at the top of the cliffs above the beach, its then a bit of a walk down the cliff path to the beach. Facing west on this exposed stretch of coastline, Sandymouth does receive a fair amount of swell and there can be some nice peaks breaking on the sandbanks all along the beach. Access isn't great for windsurfing, but it is fine for kite-powered sports, although the winds can be alittle gusty thanks to the cliffs backing the beach.
