What do we get up to?

Cubs is very much like the Beavers except occasionally the Cubs do 'badges'. These involve doing practicals in order to gain a badge which can be sewn onto the Cub uniform or kept for memories later on in life. Recently the Cubs have just completed a badge for woodwork. This involved making two household objects that could be used daily. These were a key rack and a kitchen roll holder.

Key Rack

  • The wood had to be cut to shape with no sharp edges making it user friendly and safe.
  • The wood was then varnished to give a better effect.
  • Holes were put in the wood the screw hooks into so the keys could hang.
  • String was attached to the screws on the side to hank the key rack up.

Kitchen Roll Holder

  • The base was a square piece of wood cut to shape and varnished.

Champions

The Cubs recently participated in a football competition with other Cub groups from the valley. They really enjoyed the day out as, in the end they WON!!! Before they got into the final they had to compete against three other Cub packs, one of which they beat 6-0. We named man of the match Jay ...... as he played amazingly well. There was a brilliant penalty taken by Jac Binnie in one of the first matches. Another amazing goal was scored by Thomas Willetts just 4 seconds into the game where he belted it into the back of the net. The youngest of the Cub's, Bradley Willetts, scored a goal in the final in the bottom right hand corner.

We were very proud of the Cub's and we retrieved a trophy .

Last night, 5th March, the Cub's who played were awarded their own individual trophies with their names on.

After they won the title they participated in another competition held at Burnley. Unfortunately they didn't do as well in this one but they still enjoyed every minute of it.
