Wareham Squadron was officially opened in July 1998. Since then it has come a long way. We have recently expanded our Squadron by forming a detached flight (DF) near by, in Swanage. The DF was formed in January 2001, and is on its way to becoming a Squadron on its own. The DF is currently held Twice night a week between 1930hrs and 2130hrs, Tuesday and Friday at their newly refurbished building in Court Road Swanage, the DF seems to be growing more popular, with a registered 20-30 cadets attending each week.
At Wareham, our parade nights are on Tuesdays and Fridays. The evening starts at 18:50hrs, (although cadets are advised to arrive 10mins before.) and finish at 2100hrs. Our evening commences with first parade, where the cadets form up in their flights, then any notices are given by the CO. We then run the time tabled activities until 2000hrs, where we stop for a 10min canteen break. Cold drinks, crisps, chocolate bars and sweets are available from the canteen at a very reasonable price! Then after the canteen break, the second half of the evenings activities commences, until about 2050hrs, where the cadets form up for final parade, (like first parade) and again, any notices are given out.
On the Squadron we have divided all of our cadets in to two teams, which are called flights. Each flight has its own flight commander, and a range of Senior NCO's and Junior NCO's, along with the cadets. The two flights are called "Tornado", Which is commanded by Inst Sgt Henson, and the other flight is called "Typhoon", which is commanded by Sgt Willmot.
There are many different activities that take place on the Squadron. They are usually divided into two main categories, either based around the ATC or Adventure Training. These activities include Shooting, Modeling, Leadership Training, Drill, Night Excersises.
