1 100g ball of Peregrene 100% Coutelle DK (machine washable)
or Gosling Baby DK 100% Courtelle (machine washable) or 2 50g
balls of Snow Goose DK (pure new wool) (hand wash only) in pink
will be sufficient for both Clangers.
A pair each of 2 3/4mm (U.K.12) knitting needles.
Black felt for the feet.
Pink felt for the hands, nose and ears.
Desired colour for felt tunics, hair and bow.
Sewing thread to match felt colours.
Good quality stuffing.
Card or plastic sheet for feet.
Metallic thread or yarn for embroidery.
Tension
28 sts and 37 rows to 10 cm (4 in) measured over st st using
2 3/4mm needles, before stuffing.
It is essential to obtain correct tension in yarn used and
a small test piece should be worked. If piece measures more than
the required width, try again using smaller needles, If piece
measures less than the required width, try again using larger
needles.

TO MAKEUP
Fold main piece in half Iengthways and sew head, body and
leg seams (leaving ends of nose and legs open). Stuff firmly,
Fold arms in half Iengthways. Sew cast on edge together then
sew row-ends of arms together. Stuff firmly and sew securely to
armhole openings.
Finishing
Shapes for felt pieces are shown in full size, Cut out shapes
from tracing paper to use as patterns.
Features: Using Black for eyes and Pink
for nose, cut out shapes from felt and using matching thread sew
in position.
Ears: Using Pink felt cut 2 inner ears
and sew them to the wrong side of the outer ears. Sew into position
on top of head leaving a space between the ears for hair.
Hair: Using felt cut out hair and sew in
place between ears.
Hands: Using Pink felt cut 4 shapes. Oversew
2 pieces together around fingers then sew in place to ends of
arms.
Feet: Cut out 4 feet from Black felt and
2 more from card or plastic sheeting. Trim card or plastic feet
all round so they are slightly smaller than felt pieces. Place
one piece of card or plastic between 2 felt pieces and oversew
all round edge. Sew feet to ends of legs,
Tunic: Using felt in desired colour, cut
out tunic pieces. Using metallic thread embroider onto shapes
as shown in picture then link pieces together to create garments.
Bow: (For Small Clanger only)
Using felt cut out shape for bow then using matching thread
wind round centre of piece tightly to form bow shape. Sew to top
of head.
