Extra Bulletin – From the next neighborhood – off of National and Robertson

Dear Neighbor,

I sincerely regret having to send yet another e-mail regarding gang related shootings in the neighborhood.  Unfortunately, I have been sending this type of e-mail every year since I have lived in the community (almost 6 years).

Please pray for the speedy recovery of two youths that were shot in our community.  The two teenagers, (who were not LACH residents) were shot at the corner of Cadillac and Shenandoah on Wednesday afternoon.  I happened to be driving home and had to take a detour because the street were cordoned off.  I arrived shortly after the very unfortunate incident and was informed by Officer Jennifer Lee, that the youths had been taken to Kaiser Permanente prior to the police arriving on the scene.  I have consequently been told by others that the youths will recover.

Even though the teens were not LACH residents, it is unfornate that people are at risk of being the victim of a violent crime while in our neighborhood.  The shootings were allegedly committed the Playboy Gangster Crips.

Again, the reoccurence of this extreme violence is frightening and disturbing on many levels.  With this in mind, I ask that everyone remain vigilant and do not hesitate to call the police when you see suspicious activity or crimes taking place.  Also please remember to take the time to report graffiti in our neighborhood.  The quick removal of graffiti helps to curb the gang warring as it does not give rival gang members time to tag over one another's graffiti. You may call 311 and the City will come and remove the graffiti within 24-48 hours (from public and private property)

I know that many of you have been experiencing a slow response to graffiti removal requests since the City changed vendors.  If you continue to see a slow or sloppy response or you would like to register your thoughts regarding the ongoing violence in our neighborhood, please contact Councilmember Herb Wesson's office at:

Just a quick reminder that the neighborhood watch meetings are held the
last Wednesday of the month at the I.M.A.N. Center on Motor Avenue.  I
have noticed a considerable decrease of individuals attending the
monthly meeting.  There is definitely a connection between our recent
crime increase and the lack of attendance.
