My Service

My aim is to provide a flexible service and I specialise in looking after  children at short notice and on a 'casual'  or 'one time only'  basis.  I am registered by OFSTED to provide a childcare service to children from infancy onwards.   I will always follow a parent's wishes as to how their child is cared for.  I provide a non smoking environment that is well maintained and safe. 

Policies

•  Record of accidents/injury   I am required to document existing injury, with parental acknowledgement, and record any accidents that may occur while a child is in my care. 
• Illness  The following infections will require that your child stay at home:   scabies, headlice, conjunctivitis, a temperature higher than 37.5 C, "runny tummy".
• Home safety   Safety gates are used where required as are cupboard/freezer locks.  
• Hygiene  Children are encouraged to wash their hands before eating, after using the toilet and after any garden play.  I would also check hair for headlice if a child was constantly scratching his/her head (should I find any parents would be notified!)
• Fire safety   Fire drills are practised occasionally.  A fire alarm/blanket is in place in the kitchen.  There is another fire alarm secured in place on the top landing.
• Emergency procedures  In an emergency situation a parent would be contacted immediately.
• Behaviour management   takes the form of encouraging behaviour that does not harm others and is respectful to everyone, and in order to maintain a safe and positive environment.  It never includes punishment or disrespectful treatment of any sort whatsoever. 
• Equal Opportunities are promoted for all and children encouraged to take an interest in and show respect for others of different cultures and varying abilities or others with special needs.
