Welcome to the official website of Mark Coldren and Coldren Motorsports. The 07 team competes regulary with the 358 c.i. sprint cars at Williams Grove Speedway, as well as in select 410 c.i. shows across Central Pennsylvania. 2008 marks the return of "The Ice Man" behind the wheel of his own sprint car following a one year hiatus from driving.
The theme of the 2008 season for Coldren Motorsports has been a steady progression in feature finishes. That progression improved to a 2nd place finish this past Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway. After winning our heat race, Mark earned a front row starting spot in the 20-lap feature event.
Mark jumped to the lead early at the start and remained there for the first 4 laps before being passed on the outside and falling back to second. Continuing to run the bottom of the track, Mark tracked the first place car down and passed him back, putting the Keeler Company 07 back in front through a red flag period just past the halfway point.
On the restart, Mark opened up a big lead and held it for several laps before a string of caution flags began to wave over the last 1/4 of the race. A lap 17 restart had Mark jumping out front of the field again. Mark continued to run the bottom to the best of his ability as a brake issue had him having to pump the brakes down the straightaways to ensure he had pedal once he got to the turns.
The brakes got slightly worse over the last few laps and as the white flag waved, Mark's lead was cut down. Nate Hammaker got a very good run through turns 1 & 2, as both Nate and Mark raced side by side down the backstretch. Nate dove underneath Mark going into turn 3 and would beat Mark back to the line, putting us back to 2nd.
Though slightly disappointed, the team is very happy with the 2nd place effort, and beginning on July 25, has three consecutive races in the 358s at Williams Grove, with the determination to cross the line first in the coming weeks.
